Did Tepper ixnay #keeppounding chant?
PanthersATL replied to RenoCarolina's topic in Carolina Panthers
One thing I find (amusing? odd?) is that it's easier to track down various NoDa beer* in Greenville SC than it is to track down Panthers gear there. (*disclaimer: not necessarily all NoDa varieties, and there are also other Charlotte-area breweries represented as well) But we digress in this thread with these NC vs SC observations.... so let's loop back to the topic at hand: I don't mind the stadium event/marketing crowd experimenting with different things to engage the crowd, but let's hope that they fully received the message about how important Keep Pounding is to the fan base. -
Did Tepper ixnay #keeppounding chant?

Same holds true for western North Carolina, I've seen. I've been told (from sports stores in both areas) that the reason is that college sports are So Much Bigger in those areas that they don't have the demand for the pro stuff. Clemson, USC, fringe UGA stuff in Greenville? I get it. Limited Panthers merch - to me, that's an issue If it matters, they sell UGA gear in western NC for some weird reason. -
The most popular beer at Bank of America Stadium is…

After walking in those shoes in BoA's bathrooms THEN deciding to take a drink... -
Go get 'em from the school store. I think these are a heck of a lot better than last year's mostly white edition.

DAVE season 2 was absolutely fantastic. If DAVE isn't on your watch radar, it should be. THE WHITE LOTUS - horrible people treating hard-working hotel staff like poo. Plus, a murder mystery, maybe? Mostly drama, a bit of comedy. Accidental nudity a possibility MURDER IN THE BUILDING - see other thread, comedy with steve martin, martin short, selena gomez Been renewed for season 2

New Matt Ryan meme is an internet sensation!

Is this better? -
(Reddit commentators are suggesting that the NFL is strongly opposed to 4K NFL broadcasts, as they feel the enhanced video production will cut down on ticket sales)
-
According to wikipedia, which may or may not be accurate, here are the max resolution levels for national broadcasts ABC: 720p CBS: 1080i ESPN: 720p FOX: 720p NBC: 1080i NFL Network : 1080i The problem is that the cable company may not support higher resolutions on the channels that they feed down the line. Which is why Netflix and other streamers, along with DirecTV, are able to offer 4K channels. But until the sports stuff is *filmed* in the higher resolutions, don't expect to see Ultra 4k HD for weekly NFL broadcasts any time soon. Per Reddit - FOX does some HDR via the Fox Sports App or the FuboTV streamer. Fox and NBC 4K feeds are upscaled of their 1080 stuff They'll probably air the super bowl this year in 4K, as an experiment. If Amazon (or Apple or whatever streamer) ends up with Sunday Ticket, I'd expect games to be available in 4K via that method before they're available on 4K via broadcast

Official New York Jets at Carolina Panthers Gameday Thread!
PanthersATL replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yup, I was forcing the word "stupid" vs generic mistakes. 12 men on the field? That's a stupid mistake that's easily avoidable. Getting pulled offsides on a hard count? Same. -

Of all of today's games to select to attend, Chad Johnson decided to hit up Carolina? Alrighty then -

Correct me: did we have a mass of those "stupid" mistakes that we've seen in seasons past? Sure, that 12-man-on-field thing is one, but as far as "stupid" goes -- it felt.... better? -
Here's your TV planning schedule for which network to watch this season for Panthers games:

well, boo https://www.theverge.com/2021/9/10/22667769/apple-epic-lost-lawsuit-verdict-ruling Apple needs to allow their own purchase mechanisms into their own apps Judge confirmed that Apple doesn't need to allow Epic back into their walled garden Judge ruled Epic does owe Apple some $$ So while Epic "won" the ability for devs to include alternative payment methods, they can't take advantage of the ruling themselves.

To keep this on topic for Sunday Ticket , please see this thread for diverged conversation on Amazon/Apple/whatever antitrust stuff.

Best mobile app/s for Canes and Panthers news?
PanthersATL replied to KillerKat's topic in Huddle Lounge
Mobile browser, keep an open tab on Carolina Huddle Panthers mobile app Google News, especially if you've tailored it to float Panthers news up to the top of the feed. -
@stbugs Epic actually won their suit vs Apple this week. Sets a precedent for their comparable suit against Google. ("Apple must allow other forms of in-app purchase, rules judge") https://www.theverge.com/2021/9/10/22662320/epic-apple-ruling-injunction-judge-court-app-store (and see my above post about Amazon, which I think agrees with what you said here)

Continuing from a Sunday Ticket thread conversation about Amazon anti-trust stuff with @LinvilleGorge, so as not to muck up the main forum with a divergence into a different topic. And when that investigation came out (and focused specifically on Amazon), my thought was this: "What exactly is Amazon's business? What do they sell?" It's not books, movies, CDs. It's not computer services, or 50lb bags of dogfood delivered next day. Amazon is selling convenience. That is their #1 primary product and focus. How can they make whatever it is that a consumer or business would want to buy a more convenient transaction? People don't flock to Amazon to buy things anymore because Amazon has the cheapest prices. They use Amazon because AMZN has built the absolute most convenience/easiest way to make that purchase and get it into your hands. Other businesses (Wal-Mart in particular) have tried, but what stops people from buying The Exact Same Product at Wal-Mart's online shop vs buying it via Amazon? If you've tried to use either app or website, the answer is probably staring you in the face -- Amazon's interface and shopping flow is just easier. Their return policy is easier. Same holds true for AWS vs AZURE (backend services). Having used both -- and they both do the same things -- I find working with AWS to be easier overall vs AZURE. There's nothing stopping Wal-Mart or Microsoft or any other tiny upstart business from redesigning their product offerings to be easier to use, or to offer more desirable products than Amazon does. As for being anti-competitive, I'll equate that to things where a consumer is forced to use a specific vendor rather than have a choice. Because consumers can choose to buy The Exact Same Things from companies other than Amazon, Amazon can defend themselves by saying that their is legit competition. Ditto using Google as a search engine (use Bing, or duckduckgo, or Ask Jeeves, or whatever), or Microsoft for a computer OS. As long as there are options and choices available, I can't see how Amazon could be *forced* to split up their consumer business from their AWS business or whatever. Plus, considering Amazon makes more money from the non-commerce services now, I don't see how a breakup would lead to anything worthwhile in general. It's all about convenience. Make a simpler mousetrap, and people will flock to it. (It's been Apple's mantra for a while, too...)

I think they'll do both -- make it an add-on, available only to Prime members, but at a cost point that really makes it a no-brainer to tack it on (and cheaper than what DirecTV was charging. Especially if they make it available as team-specific games for an additional $50 vs Get All The Games for $100, folks will pony up. Add on whatever advertising they can muster along the way... and it'll be a cash cow. Plus, considering the number of people who are already Prime members, I could see the NFL looking at this as a way to practically eliminate* illegal streaming. Once legit music streaming services came out, that pretty much ended the majority of the illegal music pirating world I could see the same happening here: the more/easier it is to get what you want legitimately at a reasonable or accessible price, the harder it is to justify using an illegal service.
