Looks like the bench scorers finally woke up. Hornets by 3!!!
-
Anyone seen Miles Bridges?
-
Hornets look like they’re running out of gas offensively. Getting nothing from the bench tonight either.
-
I was just thinking the same thing. I’m not sure why they do this. Seems it puts us behind the eight ball getting the best fit rather than picking over the leftovers. We run the risk of putting another inexperienced assistant at a crucial position for our defense IMO.
-
Yup. I blamed Fox for not hiring a defensive guy with more experience. Trgovac was in over his head as DC. Rivera did the same thing promoting Eric Washington - good DL coach but overwhelmed as a DC. I hope Rhule will bring in someone with experience to coach the DL as he’s done with these other hires.
-
Agreed. My last image of him was looking clueless during the 2008 home playoff when the Cardinals and specially Larry Fitzgerald lit up our defense. That game still pisses me off. Maybe we should find someone else.
-
That’s remarkable. Not only a good coach but sounds like a great human being. We’re blessed to have gotten him.

Great hire. This snippet from the write-up is what I’m most looking forward to: The 57-year-old Campen was most recently with the Texans in the same job. He spent 15 years with the Packers coaching offensive linemen (from 2004-2018), giving him background with new Panthers offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo. During that time, the Packers had seven Pro Bowl linemen, and had a habit of turning mid- to late-round picks into consistent performers. It always frustrated me how badly our OL played in comparison to other teams. Looking at the top teams, you could count the number of Pro-Bowl-caliber OL on one hand. See the Washington game last year. Cincy’s OL isn’t great either. But they’re getting the job done, which tells us coaching was a big problem here. Here’s hoping our new OL can bring the best out of whoever we line up next season.

Impressive. This guy could be our interim HC if Rhule doesn’t get his stuff together. I’m hoping these hires are signs he’s finally getting it.
-
Maybe that was as much an indicator of Brady’s liabilities as Rhule’s micromanagement. If so, it may explain why he finally cut ties. No confidence in the offensive development. Not excusing Rhule - just connecting dots.

For all the Brady Christensen fans....

Which no doubt helps to explain their dismissals. Good riddance - especially Pat Meyer. -
Yup…hope these recent hires signal an adjustment in his approach. It will have to be for things to change. Both coordinators have HC experience (Tabor was interim for one game) and I hope Rhule will be smart enough to draw from that.

Hope we have a chance to correct that since Campen has history with McAdoo and the coaching staff in Houston is unsettled. -
Agree I’m being optimistic but the incompetence was real. I’m hoping it’s a sign of growing pains for an inexperienced college coach that needs more time. However, Tepper and us fans have to see significant change on the field to regain any confidence.

A good leader surrounds himself with smart people, even if they’re smarter than he is. I’m hoping the hiring of experienced is encouraging sign that we’re trending upward.
-
This is a great hire for us. Tabor is a Dave Toub protégée, the ST guru who’s coached the Bears in the past and currently the Chiefs. I’m glad Rhule is bringing aboard coaches with prior NFL experience and successful results.

Albert Breer on the Panthers quarterback options
Prowler2k18 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Actually drafting a QB like Pickett does make some sense. There’s a strong possibility that Darnold won’t be playing for us beyond next season. If that’s the case, who else do we have behind him as a Bonaire starter….PJ Walker? Don’t think so. And does Rhule and co want to gamble on a rookie in ‘23 when your odds are better finding a potential “franchise” QB with a top 10 pick this year? Ideally you could sit him behind Darnold and groom him to take over in ‘23 rather than putting pressure on a rookie to carry the offense. Yes, we need OL but we’re spinning our wheels until we get the QB position settled. Don’t be surprised if we go OL in FA with an eye toward find a permanent starter at QB for 2023 and beyond. JMO -
So am I. McCaughey turning us down may be a blessing in disguise if we can get Tabor. He’s highly regarded within the Bears’ organization. https://heavy.com/sports/chicago-bears/urged-keep-sean-desai-chris-tabor/amp/

Guys didn’t come to play tonight. Must have one eye on the NFL playoffs. Getting our butts handed to us at home.
-
A different challenge for sure. Physicality hasn’t been synonymous with the Panthers ‘ OL for a few years now. It would be a refreshing change for sure. Ditto on an efficient passing game to complement the running game. Another reason we absolutely need to get the new OL coaching hire right.
-
The Dad Bod Squad. That’s the name I heard on WFNZ. And those guys would know!
-
He’s good but I’d rather have new blood. And Matsko is still coaching with Rivera in Washington unless I missed something.
-
Campen would be my top choice based on experience and familiarity with McAdoo followed by Warhop or Flaherty. Sparano should remain on as an assistant to whichever experienced guy we bring in.
-
Believe me, we dodged a bullet passing up on Gruden. He’s overrated IMO and his tenure in Washington didn’t end well either.
-
Joe Brady’s biggest flaw was his lack of experience as a play caller on the pro level. He was more of an offensive assistant/passing game coordinator with New Orleans and LSU respectively. Contrast that with McAdoo, who has years of experience in various offensive roles and has worked with future HOF QBs in Manning and Rodgers and the choice is obvious. His stint as a HC and eye for personnel (he really banged the table for the Giants to draft Mahomes) is a bonus. An unspectacular hire but a solid one. We’d be fooling ourselves thinking a Bill O’Brien, Pep Hamilton or someone else of notoriety would eagerly come here under the current coaching and personnel situation.
