We need to draft a WR early and then if the board later on says a WR is the BPA, then we double dip. Don't force it for the sake of filling out position group. You always have UFAs for that.

Yup, several teams at the end of round one could end up taking a WR. I think this public leak is smoke to have one of those teams who would otherwise consider WR in the second round think about prioritize wideout over another position because XL won't be there when they pick again. In other words, force a team to reach for XL and have another player drop to Carolina who the Panthers really want.

I usually only double dip at WR in a trade back with an additional pick or two in my mocks.

The second round is solid most of the way through. Unless a stud falls, the next tier is something like 20 picks deep.

Traded back from #39 got Pearsall at #44 AND added two extra picks.

Same website. Average Big Board is #47 and average mock is #51 to the Steelers. Mocks can be realistic or completely nonsensical and everything in between. I can can trade to #1 overall and have the Panthers take Caleb Williams. Realistic? Not a damn chance.

Those are mock drafts and in a scenario where there is a crazy run on WRs, he could sneak into the back half of the first round. Is that likely? I'd put a 1% chance on it. I'm familiar with that draft site and they have HUNDREDS of mock drafts, so yes, you can find some with some outliers.

Short of Rattler, I'd be game.

Like you said, the second round is loaded, so moving back a few spots isn't going to hurt. If we aren't in love with the pick at #33 or #39, move back. I would really like another 3rd or 4th rounder this draft.

#1-WR #2-CB #3-Edge #4-TE #5-C #6-RB #7-ILB #8-DL We won't pick in order of need...obviously, but if we at least hit each position, I'll feel better about the team post draft.

I have not...anywhere. He's more likely to slip to the 3rd than go in the 1st.

Just some samplings: NOBODY is saying this dude is worthy of the #33 pick.

To set things in perspective, I wouldn't dislike drafting the kid, but #33 is too high. I'd be more okay at #39 and I'd run to the podium at #65. At pick #33, we need an immediate contributor. I'd be happy with: Wilson, Leggette, Pearsall or McKinstry, Legette, Frazier etc.. As long as he's not our top pick. He's got too much refining to do.

Teams like the Chiefs can reach for project players because they have the depth and and team infrastructure to allow a kid to grow for a couple of seasons. WE DO NOT HAVE THAT LUXURY. This team needs as many immediate contributors as possible. So taking this dude over McConkey would be absolutely retarded. That said, it probably will happen.

I just posted this yesterday. My cynical side was showing when I made this, saying 'prove to me this is a NEW thinking Panthers front office' and until then we will continue to stupid sh*t in the draft.

It looks like some other team is going to have to save us from ourselves...again. Hopefully, the brass did this as a smokescreen knowing dude would blab about where he thinks he's getting picked and our real intention is still there if Legette gets picked before #33. Doubtful. That's too much work to set up an elaborate hoax.

That's cool. However, some...several actually, of the picks by this organization I did not like leading up to the draft in the past ended up proving me right. TMJ, DJ Johnson and Mingo are recent examples I can point to. I can elaborate more on players further back if you'd like.
