Atlanta drafts Penix at 8 - GIF Reaction Thread

The Vikings gave up a late 4th and a 5th to move up one spot to get McCarthy. It was a just a 4th in value. Likely had to throw in the 5th to sweeten the offer.

QBs and QBs best friends. Welocme to the modern NFL. Next will be a run on WRs.
-
The real winners are Rattler and Pratt. They could go early in the second round now. Think Giants and Raiders. To a lesser extent Saints, Rams and Pittsburgh.
-
BPA. Plus, TEs usually take a couple of years to develop. Remember the Bears gave up on Olsen pretty quickly. We are glad they did.
-
History!!! SIX QBs in the top 12! I hate our front office so damn much.
-
Why yes, yes it was.
-
I'm going there. Fugging called it last year. Epic QB class in 2024. Just had to wait one more year. But no, we HAD TO trad up for Young. Fug Fitterer!!!
-
Not to me. Not this QB class.
-
Bo Nix?
-
Lol, hit the over by pick #10. We might be looking at history tonight fellas. Well....tying history (1983).
-
Ditto.

The Vikings held their water as long as they could. Rumors had it they were likely moving to #5 and possibly as high as #3. I think they came out smelling pretty good. Only 50 points in value on a trade chart.

You didn't watch him play then. He's not quite as slippery once out of the pocket, but he can move. Penix is more of a polished pocket passer than Vick was. He's a sneaky good athlete though. Rodney Peete was never anything special. Poor comp.

McCarthy comes off the board right here.
-
Penix gives the Falcons Vick vibes.
-
Called it, Penix before McCarthy. Shocked it was the Falcons though.

I was listening to a radio show today and they discussed QBs at length. Maye, was the biggest boom or bust prospect of the big 6. McCarthy was the biggest question mark. He played with an elite OL, dominant run game and heck of a head coach. What would he look like on a, say. 1-15 NFL team? Nix, while universally QB6, they said at least you know what you are getting...solid, steady, yet unspectacular. Obviously know Williams and Daniels are going off the board #1, #2. Maye, may (pun), not be QB3 and that also may not be the Patriots with the third selection. For all the UNC homers around here, Drake isn't the lock he was looking like months ago. People have picked his game apart and come away less than blown away.

Yup, certain names are starting to get attached to teams now. I've also heard don't be shocked if Penix goes ahead pf McCarthy. Personally, I've always had Penix higher. For whatever reason about a month ago McCarthy caught fire, but that fire seems to be smoldering a bit now. Penix is being talked about to either the Vikings or Raiders and Nix to the Broncos, but that would be a later trade, not in the first round.

Over/under Qbs taken tonight: 4.5 What y'all got?

Why is no one considering double dip at WR?
45catfan replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
In order to get what you are saying the double dip need to be two of the first three picks. You can't count on late round guys. Again, if the board says another WR is the BPA, then I'm all for it. I don't want to reach just so the WR room can be deeper--rather have more bodies. Especially when a guy at another position is ranked higher on our board. -

We need to draft a WR early and then if the board later on says a WR is the BPA, then we double dip. Don't force it for the sake of filling out position group. You always have UFAs for that. -
According to Legette, Panthers will draft Legette at #33

Yup, several teams at the end of round one could end up taking a WR. I think this public leak is smoke to have one of those teams who would otherwise consider WR in the second round think about prioritize wideout over another position because XL won't be there when they pick again. In other words, force a team to reach for XL and have another player drop to Carolina who the Panthers really want. -

I usually only double dip at WR in a trade back with an additional pick or two in my mocks. -
The second round is solid most of the way through. Unless a stud falls, the next tier is something like 20 picks deep.
