Only a .500 record required, 43 games, winter portal, players with NFL aspirations and only 4 schools really playing for anything. Is a wonder why these bowl games have like 10% of people in attendance? Nobody wants to travel to see backups play while the stars are on the sidelines. It's akin to preseason in the NFL. Even when the playoffs expand to 12, that's a mere 8 more schools with something to play for. The trend will continue at an accelerated pace, unfortunately. Teams will end up having to start kids in these bowl games that have not played much or even a snap all season.

For all that is holy please let this season end GameDay Thread

South of the stadium I think still has plenty of parking areas. Most of the lots I tailgated in on the north side now have condos built on those sites. -
Brother, if it was just only last year's TE class! I've been barking up this tree since Olsen's lisfranc surgery.

I've looked at SEVERAL draft sites and he's averaging WR4/5. Based on the past several drafts, that would put him mid-late first round.
-
Again, he's a first rounder, but maybe he has a bad combine or pro day and slips. It's not uncommon.
-
Could, but likely won't. It depends on how many teams need a WR1 versus other needs. He definitely has a round 1 grade.
-
Lol at Egbuka falling to the 2nd round. Also, Utah's Elliss is returning to school.

We have a draft subforum for this. It's current despite it saying 2023 draft. The title hasn't been updated.

Panthers releasing Justin Houston… what a great signing

Lol, dude ASKED TO BE CUT to get the fug up outta here. It's sad when we sign FAs and a couple months later they are like" Can I be cut, PLEASE?!?!?!?!?" -
And the rest of the exchange? It went on for a while. The question was asked of Tabor what was the furthest Eddy hit in warmups and Tabor said "60". He was even specific to say the same side of the field. It's cool, Frank is gone, but It's common knowledge that on long kicks like this on HCs will consult the STs coach. Did Tabor say, 'NO, DON'T DO IT!'? I didn't get that impression...at all. He's a made man in this League, if he disagreed with Frank, I think he would implied it or outright said so in this line of questioning with the press. He doesn't strike me as the type to beat around a bush. I wasn't like his job was on the hot seat.

Yup, generally the HC asks coordinators their input on major decisions such as this. It's even on video. You might want check next time before coming off as an @ss. https://www.panthers.com/video/chris-tabor-on-ihmir-smith-marsette-s-return-td

One multi-touchdown game all season...against Detroit. -

Same old metric. Does the opponent score more than 17 points? if yes, there's a 99% chance of a Panthers loss. If the opponent is held to 17 points, about 33.3% shot of a Panthers win and the chances increase about 15% for every 3 points under that. I know that doesn't add up to 100%, but you get the idea. -
I'm fine with Tomlin as long as he doesn't bring a Matt Canada-like OC on board with him. I get loyalty, but man, waiting so long to ditch him probably cost them this season.
-
LSU's Daniels just declared. There's your 3rd QB off the board.
-
Seems about right. Crazy that every year there are approximately 8 HC openings.
-
Did you click the link to Tabor's presser? By your comments I will assume no.
-
Eddy supposedly hit from 60 yards that same direction in pregame and the reason the decision was green lighted.

https://www.panthers.com/video/chris-tabor-on-ihmir-smith-marsette-s-return-td Who knows who was trying to cover for whom, but Frank apparently didn't go rogue against the rest of the coaching staff. I mean, one would think he consulted Tabor on such an important STs matter.

I read it somewhere, I think the official site.

The punt and KO ploys aside, the end of game is where I think he shined. I was thinking the same thing, we had the timeouts (they didn't) and enough downs to run the clock all the way down. Why give the ball back to them? There was a greater probability that they marched down the field after we scored a TD than Eddy missing a chip shot FG.
-
Tabor signed off on that decision, FYI.

Agreed. However, if an upgrade is available in the draft, say mid-round or FA at a decent cap figure, why not go that route? He's developed into a decent NFL RB. I mean Thielen was the other mention in this post, do we not upgrade if one is to be had? I get what you are saying though, we invest too much at RB in an attempt upgrade, but it doesn't have to be that way. We just have an incompetent GM that chooses to do it that way.
