He was shot by 2018 via a dominant shoulder injury. He wasn’t wheelchair bound not sure where you got that, he was just physically shot for his game. I don’t know what else to say there, if you don’t believe punishing NFL defenders for 7 years partially attributed to that with the Steelers game basically sealing his fate, we won’t agree on anything. This coaching staff would not use whoever we draft the way Ron made Cam save us with physicality from the position. Just to be sure I’m clear, because I believe BY can play the position at his size = I have an agenda? I don’t agree but fine if you think that. I’m also not upset at all, as stated multiple times I’d be happy with Stroud. I think BY is the better player but if our professional coaching staff that has been doing this for 30+ years thinks it CJ I’m all on board. I’m sorry that upsets you

I’ve seen the word agenda thrown in this convo so many times. I guess my “agenda” is Panthers taking the best QB for us? Idk tell me what my agenda is because you must know better. My personal opinion is BY and the size thing is being blown completely out of proportion. We had the biggest most physical freak QB of all time and he made it 7 years (7 great ones) before being physically shot. I keep seeing on this board if BY was 6’2 and 225 he’d by the unanimous #1. My only differing opinion I guess is I think he’s still #1 at 5’10, 200 with the way the current NFL is structured to protect and flourish QBs. I guess that’s my “agenda”. (?) It feels like way too many on this board think we will play whoever we draft like we did Cam. Cam was the best to do it in black and blue so I get it, but it’s not reality. Both these guys are not running QBs as a major part of their game. If the coaching staff goes Stroud I’m happy and fully supporting him.

So he’s the same size as a future hall of famer and a 2x pro bowler. Oh he’s also the same size as drew Brees. In an era where even a sack has to be performed in a very specific manner or it’s a penalty. He’s not even a running QB. At what point am I not in trouble?
-
He’s also the same size as Russell Wilson. You can’t just selectively pick a bust and act like that’s the end of the discussion. (Besides size wasn’t what killed Manziels career) also just curious, if him playing against SEC teams + the best of the best in the playoffs is “mediocre programs” then are there any college teams you’d consider not playing mediocre teams? I’m not following that one.

Why does nobody bringing up Bryce’s games against Georgia in this argument. He played them twice, went 1-1 with 4 TD to 2 INT and 790 yards. Bryce’s games were also basically back to back which is as close as you can get to simulating playing conference opponents with NFL talents twice a year.
-
To be fair can take your exact point above and include “Bryce is too small”
-
With the Georgia game I still don’t take Stroud. He’s a great prospect and I’d be happy with him but if you get your pick I’m going BY

Joe Person: Sense around the league is they’re going up for CJ Stroud
jb2288 replied to Varking's topic in Carolina Panthers
Why would that concern you? Young is the better qb as of right now -
Youre high if you think Tepper has more say on this than Reich. any of those top 4 guys sell tickets this upcoming season tepper doesn’t care. Reich is making this pick

literally whoever lol what do you mean FO can go overpay Lazard or JuJu or whoever and pair them with TMJ, Shi, and whoever we draft at #39. Rock solid OL >>>> superstar WR (in the context of a rookie QB)
-
Yes they are, you just overpay for them in FA which is most likely what we will do until we draft another #1 or someone emerges
-
all that cap space you saw freed up is 100% going to Boze and a FA WR. My guess is Theilen and whoever we draft at #39
-
If we get a rookie QB I would.

Seattle is his ceiling

JOE PERSON: Panthers will not pursue Lamar Jackson
jb2288 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Good. I’d love to have him but for $45M a year id rather our 2 firsts go to moving up for CJ or Bryce -
There's 4 of those this year

What happens when we win 7 games with Sam and are picking 11 next year and the top 2 in the draft need a QB and aren't trading out?

I would gladly take Daniel Jones…. For $15M a year to be our vet guy while AR15 develops behind him. $40M+? Hard pass

Panthers founder Jerry Richardson passes away at 86

why not just unlock the original thread where OP was correct and had it first? sketchy... @Mr. Scot -
I think this is the way. You have to trust someone falls to 9, which history tells us will happen. Worst case imo is trading up to 5 to take AR or Levis when there is an 80% chance one of those guys will be there at 9 anyway.
