This makes no sense at all to me because its too much of a reactionary move. So we are going to give up draft capital for an average qb that is probably going to hurt your draft status in the long run when you just drafted a qb that you had a first round grade on. Baker would literally be a one year rental and that doesnt do jack poo in the grand scheme of things. Also I seriously doubt Baker is the mentor that Smith was. There are dozens of articles detailing the relationship of mahomes and smith and how smith knew what the big picture was and was okay with it. You think poo head Baker is going to have the same mindset? Again trading for Baker may be a slightly less retarded version of trading for darnold. Its fuging insanity
-
This guy gets it
-
Fitt fuging sucks as well. What the fug has he done thats been good?
-
We are giving up more draft capital to bring a fug head onto the team. What in the holy fug is this front office doing? We are now the official laughing stock of the league.
-
I mean, you are not wrong here
-
If we win 10 games (and come on I was being generous) are you comfortable giving him a 5 year deal at the going qb rate? You want to lock yourself into Mayfield for 5 fuging years? Lets say he says peace out I aint signing, you going to franchise tag baker effing mayfield?
-
Thats my entire point, trading for baker just sets up a headache down the road.
-
Define "put it together". What does that even mean? Say his stats mimic his 2020 season and we win 8-10 games. Then what?
-
Alright cool, say we are competitive this season with Baker, then what?
-
Even then how does this improve your team long term? What exactly does this do in regards to building your team?
-
I can think of multiple reasons why this is an insanely stupid idea.
-
baker maybe, certainly not this franchise I am surprised we havent signed Rosen yet to collect the full set of 2018 draft qb fug ups
-
and then???????
-
Josh Allen, burrow and Herbert have become 3 of the hottest young qbs in the game simply by getting reps and game experience and getting better. You can say that Mahomes did sit and learn but there are dozens of articles about him blowing minds in practice during his rookie season.
-
I am far from a baker fan but he was hurt last year After 4 years you get a sense of who/what a qb is. We know who he is, lets just stay away from this poo show all together and build organically like most nfl franchises do, stop fuging cutting corners. If you had a first round grade on Corral treat it as such.
-
you are right I am just saying we are continuing to give up capital for poo instead of building the team, each pick we give up is potentially a player that can contribute down the line
-
if we win 8 games with baker he is getting a massive new deal, thats just the reality of things I feel pretty confident that baker is worth about 8 games with this roster
-
It literally makes no sense to give up draft capital to get baker here for one year. Its beyond retarded and such a matt rhule move
-
Money to me isnt the issue its the draft capital we are eyeballing to make the move. We are going to back door ourselves into giving baker a new deal next year because we dont have capital to move up if needed.
-
We are going to trade a 4rth for Baker, win 8 games, extend rhule and then give baker a 5 year $150 million deal. Take it to the bank
-
My buddy in Charlotte who is also semi connected to tepper sports just texted it may be done by the end of business today. fug this is really going to happen
-
Lol that's not even what you said. Goddamn
-
Again if there was a correlation among qbs that sit and "develop" and then become pro bowl players then it would permeate among nfl franchises. They as a whole are all not that stupid.
-
Who are these qbs that are developed by the staffs? Did we not try this with Grier and now PJ? I dont think sitting qbs has the desired effect that you think it does.
-
Looking over the tp 15 qb's the vast majority started their rookie year. If sitting a guy leads to a higher success rate then I think you would see it way more often. That simply isnt the case
