  1. If fans know Watson and Newton are tight, why wouldn't Tepper? Especially when he's going into trade negotiations with Deshaun? We can all hate on Rhule, it's well deserved, but the blame rests w/Tepper for continuing to be so clueless as an owner.
  2. Yeah, that's not gonna happen. Reality: If Tepper wins the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes, the Panthers are gonna get fleeced. Might as well announce: It's open season on Tepper and Rhule fellas! Release the hounds!
  3. Nah, everybody already knows Tepper and Rhule are the best combo since peanut butter and jelly.
  4. Darkhorse in this race: After all is said and done, Deshaun and Houston resolve their differences and become best buddies.
  5. With potentially 4 or 5 teams trying to win the Watson sweepstakes, chances are whoever "wins" is gonna have to overpay for him.
  6. Add to OP's QB stat "the three ring circus variable" (Tepper, Rhule and Fitterer). I'm often amazed this team manages to find its way from the locker room to the field on Sundays. Since Tepper bought the team (2018) Panthers have: - The worst NFCS record - The 3rd worst NFC record - The 5th worst NFL record* *Jaguars, Jets, Lions and Giants https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/worst-record-by-a-nfl-team-since-2018
  7. Seems so obvious and yet so simple. However, after almost 4 years of ownership, this obvious solution continues to elude David "Man of Balls" Tepper.
  8. I'm starting to get the distinct impression that Matt "Jay-Z" Rhule was lying to us 1000% when he said his plan was working.
  9. What ever happened to Rhule's original plan? The one where he methodically builds a team over several seasons from the ground up. It now appears Rhule is leveling everything he constructed during season 1 and 2. TL/DR: Starting to get the distinct impression Rhule doesn't have a plan and may not know what he's doing.
  10. I can't envision Watson looking at what's happening in Carolina and thinking to himself "Carolina is where I can take my game to the next level".
  11. Looks like the Panthers might end up selling the farm to lay an egg.
  12. Meh, can't lie. If Brady coming back for another year expedites Matt Rhule's firing, it's a good thing. It's like Matt Rhule is choosing the form of his own destructor. "Choose the form of the destructor!"
  13. Not surprised by Tom's return. Had read reports predicting he would sign with his childhood team, the 49ers.
  14. Rob Smith the is richest AA, worth 5 billion and was born in Denver. No idea if he has any interest in owning the Broncos.
  15. Latest PointsBet odds for acquiring DW: Panthers +175 Bucs +400 Seahawks +450 Texans +500 https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/03/12/the-panthers-are-the-betting-favorites-to-land-deshaun-watson/
  16. It's a possibility. I fully expected Carroll to retire this year and was surprised when he didn't. On the other hand, he appears to be in great shape for someone his age. Would not be surprised if he outlives tubby Matt Rhule. Pete's already been through a rebuild with Seattle, so he isn't going into it blindly. If Carroll's retiring in the next year or two chances are he already has an exit plan in place (and has shared it with ownership). I seriously doubt the Seahawks would have kept him around for a rebuild if he wasn't committed to seeing it through.
  17. I'll be the first to tell you that I have been highly critical of some of Seattle's decisions in recent years. However, they pale in comparison to the decisions of Carolina's Tepper/Rhule/Fitterer era. We can look at the results, they speak for themselves. One organization is staffed with professionals, many of which have been together for over a decade of winning. The other organization is led by couple of novices Tepper/Rhule and a GM that has been fleeced several times in his short career with the Panthers. If you were a franchise QB, making what might be your final move, which team would you trust your future to? I simply don't see much of an argument for Carolina, short of Watson being closer to home and Tepper giving him some level of control over coaching and management decisions. Who knows in the next few days (hours) all the other teams may back out and Carolina will have their QB. Stay tuned!
