Did you ever know that you're my hero?
-
He's not a good player either.

If the Chinless Wonder gets rid of Thompson and Boston in his first offseason I'll crown his ass. Clearly he knows what's up.
-
He's twice the player YGM is - and I like YGM.
-
The fact that he's been a healthy scratch is every reason why you move on from him.

I'm stuck on keeping as many Draft picks as possible, yes. Sure you can go and try to duplicate what the Rams have done, but I'd much rather follow through with the tried and tested method of building your team through the Draft. Rhule got a tune out of players like Smith / Hartfield / Franklin, but c'mon they're not long term options at their positions. They're marginal NFL players. Carter looked less worse than he did under Rivera, but again he's a marginal NFL player. You can't win with too many of those on your roster - which is what we have now.

Not much of a rebuild if you trade away all your Draft capital for the next three years.

The thing with the Jets is that they're currently set up to acquire a BUNCH of talent with all their additional picks. So, theoretically, they could cash all of that in NOW to pick up this uber-Franchise QB monster that you can't possibly compete without. Sure, it slows down their rebuild somewhat (1 talented, guaranteed NFL player at the most important position of need rather than 3-4 potential talented NFL players) , but they're not selling their future for him - they'd just be resetting their Draft capital back to the norm. The Jets and the Dolphins are the only two places that it makes sense for Watson to go. Everyone else, with that price tag, is selling their future for him. So unless you think the rest of your team is in place for 2-3 years and this guy is going to put you over the top, steer well clear.

What? I've heard there's four in this Draft that we MUST trade up for.

To be fair he was often the 16th man in on a tackle, but made it all about him with his machine gun celebration. I personally wouldn't want him on the staff, but you could feasibly keep him around in street clothes to be the 17th man in if you start missing his celebrations.

(bonus points if any of you know who that is [and where it is])

ESPN Predicts Watson to be the Panthers starter in 2021
OldhamA replied to Big Sexy's topic in Carolina Panthers
Out of interest, what was that elite QB's record last year when surrounded by a sub-par team? -
What's with this anti-Scott campaign that's going on right now? I for one really appreciate loading up the blog and seeing a coherent thread about the major news of the day. Saves me a whole bunch of time. Dude deserves a medal if anything.

Possibly the craziest draft story you might read

Take it a step further - why does no-one criticise Lance for playing on, what is essentially, a P5 team in the FCS? Watch his tape - guys are running WIIIIIIIIIIIDE open all over the shop. -

There's a lot to like about Wilson - his footwork is his biggest question for me. It needs reworking. I can absolutely understand why some teams have Wilson over Lawrence - Lawrence has too many glaring misreads and at times is worrying inaccurate for me to laud him as a generational talent. That said, if I had the #1 pick as a GM and it was my ass on the line, you could bet your mortgage on me taking Lawrence. He's just got too much going for him for Wilson to overcome (better athlete, more experience). -

I do question whether people actually watched Mahomes in college. That or I shouldn't be shot down for saying Jones gives me Brady vibes. It's the same tenuous comparison. -
Fingers fuging crossed. That's a terrible trade for us.
-
He's a very good blocker now - clearly worked hard on it. He's been underutilised in Cleveland - wanted out last offseason. They'd trade him rather than release him though - they exercised his 5th year option after all.
-
I'd genuinely question whether I want to remain a fan if we make that kind of deal.

The money doesn't disappear off our Salary Cap if we trade them y'know. We still take a significant hit.

REPORT: Mac Jones not high on Panthers QB draft board
OldhamA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd happily trade for a veteran QB, but that market has almost dried up. With this current crop of QBs - I just don't see this 'Top 4 Franchise QB' distinction. They've all got flaws that could be crippling. I'm not interviewing / at the pro day evaluating them so I'm literally guessing whether they're flaws they can overcome. If you love a guy, sure, trade up for him - but damn you'd better be right. -
REPORT: Mac Jones not high on Panthers QB draft board
OldhamA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Beauty is literally in the eye of the beholder. There isn't a perfect QB prospect in the Draft. For me: Lawrence + athleticism / plus arm / plus mobility / starting experience / unscripted plays - missed reads / inaccuracy (worryingly so at times) Fields + athleticism / plus arm / plus mobility / unscripted plays - missed reads / v. simple OSU offence (don't teach a lot of concepts you see in the NFL) Wilson + plus arm (incl. ability to throw from multiple angles) / mobility / plus accuracy / unscripted plays - awful footwork Jones + Pro ready / good reads / accuracy - average NFL arm / pocket passer / surrounding talent Lance + athleticism / plus arm / plus mobility / running ability - glaring missed reads / footwork (which got worse in 2020) / surrounding talent / inexperience So it literally all depends on what you're looking for in a QB - 4 of the 5 guys can literally play in any system you want. With Jones he's system specific, but that's not a bad thing. I wouldn't want to start Lance, Fields or Wilson in Year 1. They're all going to have huge technical / mental things to work on. Of those 3 I'd be most comfortable starting Wilson as a rookie, but his footwork is baaaaad (I finally put my finger on why I'm not overly sold on him!).
