Per my post - I don't think a Trey Lance et al is going to be your franchise QB, but he gives you an opportunity to field a competitive team until you DO find your franchise QB. Rolling the dice on the Draft is a crazy way to operate. Prize = force something open i.e. try to trade for the backup QB the host team actually like. This idea that you're nowhere without a franchise QB is baffling to me. I'd say maybe 10 NFL teams have their franchise guy. The other 22 are settling or actively looking for the next guy. How many of those 22 are actively tanking? The Steelers are running the corpse of Russell Wilson out there ffs trying to compete. You play to win the game.

Throw all of last year's numbers out as an outlier - he wasn't allowed to field 11 NFL players. How do his numbers stack up then? Genuine question by the way.

I just want to be competitive. It's not a deep team, but there's far more talent on this roster than our record will eventually show if we continue to trot Young out there.

I've only had time to look at the first few clips, but I think the problem with Evero is that players simply aren't executing. Nobody makes a play on the sweep. Moehrig makes a mistake on the next play. Scott makes a mistake on the next. I guess that's coaching, but fundamentally the system is fine.

I hate this approach. There's no guarantee you'll like anyone in the next Draft. You can't just pick a guy 'cos you need a QB. Which is why I advocate looking at the guys with NFL tape and trying to prize one of those away until you DO find the guy in the Draft. But granted you're also happy to let Young play out the season, leaving us playing 10v11 all year, so there you go. Different strokes for different folks.

I can't watch 16 more games of this - you're literally not even trying to win games and what are you actually tanking for? This is a mediocre QB Draft class. You'd have to get yourself excited about hugely flawed prospects.

I think he was brought in because nobody else wanted the job IF it came with the caveat that Young had to start. For all of the platitudes players and talking heads give Young, they all know what's really happening here and don't want anything to do with him.

He's had the starting job handed to him for three straight years. If Gardner Minshew had walked through the doors of BoA Stadium last year he'd have taken Young's job and stuffed him in his locker. Mental fortitude.

When everything is going perfect (incredibly strong running game, OLine keeping him clean) he can just about brush mediocre. It's damning how much Canales takes the ball out of his hands. Three first round picks for that, ladies and gentlemen.
