When you say qualified are you referring to head coaching experience or overall more years coaching in general? I get what you're saying and why you're skeptical as it pertains to Tepper. I'm in the same boat. This move could ultimately prove fruitless you could be right. It could work out too who knows. But I think you're putting too much emphasis on experience in this instance. Canales success or failure will boil down to if we are able to turnaround our ability to assess and identify talent. If we keep drafting like poo and signing mediocre FA's it won't matter who the coach is. We'll see if that changes for the better.

Certainly from an offensive perspective it is impressive. But when you account for the fact this era of the NBA basically plays zero defense it's honestly comical. Hypothetically it would be interesting to see how many greats from previous eras would drop 80+ points in a single game with how little effort most put into defending and with all the flopping.

As we've discussed previously the number of highly qualified candidates willing to hitch their wagon to Bryce Young for the foreseeable future was few and far between. They all saw the same things we did regardless of contributing circumstances. Our best hope is that Canales can channel some level of McVay or Shanahan. I'm not saying I expect it. But for this to work that's what it's going to take.

There's really no reason not to. If BY enters the season looking exactly the same physically I'll pretty much be checked out on his future as a starting QB. You can't be a #1 pick and have the season he just had and do nothing in that aspect.

I understand your apprehension due to this being a Tepper hire. But while you're being dramatic let's not pretend like pairing Bryce Young with Mike Vrabel was a guaranteed recipe for success. Either way whomever was hired was always going to have their work cut out for them because we picked the wrong QB and now we're left to salvage what we can.

I get the point you are attempting to make. This an egregious comparison though. Geno Smith is...Geno Smith. Baker Mayfield? We already know. These guys can't hold prime Cam Newton's jockstrap. Winning playoff games with them is at minimum impressive. It does not mean he will be successful though and I agree with that. What will make him successful is if Dan Morgan is the talent evaluator we are hoping him to be.

I won't laugh at them too much I didn't think Ryans would be as successful as he has been in Houston. Who knows how things could go for Morris. But the folks here looking over a ledge over our hire should appreciate that it could be worse.

I'd love to have him but he's 30 and I have no idea why he would want to be here other than the connection to Canales and if we throw a small fortune at him.

She did her victory lap when we drafted Bryce because she had the inside info then went missing when he got everyone fired. That being said I still hope she's right.
