  1. The top pick would be nice but I don't see us being nearly bad enough for that. The rebuild talk is a convenient excuse when needed. If we were truly in a rebuild we would have drafted our quarterback and let him take his lumps. Throwing money and draft picks at Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Darnold behind a mediocre offensive line isn't rebuilding it's just treading water. We hope Sam can get it done but just call it what it is
  2. Sports franchises sell a product. People discuss it. The horror!
  3. Obviously certain aspects yes your point is well taken. But in glaring faults such as the Panthers offensive line I don't think you need multiple years as a coach or a gm to know it's going to be an issue moving forward. The NFL goes through coaches and general managers at a rapid pace bc individual decisions can make or break. That's the business.
  4. Of course. What else could go wrong with this oline lol.
  5. Was there anyone that expected that 2015 squad to make the run they did after Kelvin went down in camp? Remind me what Carolina has accomplished since. Minus that year our oline has been a major point of concern amongst fans since every season Gross retired so to reduce this discussion to just an instance of fishing for clicks is just ignoring team history.
  6. Nobody will argue the team lacked talent last year but Teddy was risk averse to the extreme and if he wasn't he would still be here. None of the moving parts on your roster mean anything if the leader of your team is incapable of being clutch in any capacity.
  7. Actually classic Marty Hurney is thinking what you're doing is great and will pay off in spades while everyone else is looking at you perplexed. It's been ten years of this through two different GM's. We are hoping a similar approach will yield us different results in the short term. There is nothing unreasonable about that observation.
  8. Of course not but you just said they could suck for eternity and still have fans. Thus the obvious point about over half a century of brand building has an impact on the loyal fanbase they have today despite a glaring lack of success. Even the Panthers have come a long way within the last decade. It takes time to build generations of fans. But Carolina really needs to get that no back to back winning seasons thorn out of the way.
  9. The Jets and Browns have been around for a combined 100+ years compared to 25 for our young expansion team. That makes a substantial difference.
  10. So Steve Smith Sr has no idea what he's talking about but you're going straight to a Peyton Manning comparison? Let's focus on Sam just becoming a good decision maker with the football that's the biggest question and is the most pressing concern moving forward because he has a history or turnovers regardless of footwork.
  11. What bias? I am completely aware that he is physically not the same quarterback he has been in some years. The ride looks to he over sadly but hey that's sports. All that being said it does not mean I have to ignore nonsense when I see it. These stereotypes about black qb's need to go the way of the dinosaur so future kids don't have to put up with dated preconceived notions based on nothing more than numbskullery that also gives way to criticism about the sincerity of smiles and listening to music in practice.
  12. In the realm of criticism it's low hanging fruit and should be considered such the same as baseless assertions about intellect or work ethic. There were assertions made about Sam Darnold in these areas and they were quickly shut down rightly so.
  13. People complain about this thread and his name being mentioned but they still keep it going and even post memes basking in his failure. Ya'll really aren't as slick as you think.
  14. Special teams hasn't been a negative overall so far with Rhule and our return game has been alright so I'm hopeful they have a solution in mind. But at the same time this close to the season I'm thinking of the Rivera mystery return man days. Just no more of that please and thank you.
  15. Availability is also a question that looms large with Erving Elfein and Paradis. All have an injury history and all have been banged up at some point along the way so far through camp and preseason. We're only as good as our depth and that depth is...
  16. Even if you can justify hinging the season on signings like Erving and Elflein bc they were all that was supposedly available the more egregious error was thinking we were good with our starting center which is just as important as left tackle. Paradis is the same he has always been. I got grief from ppl for mentioning this a few months ago but here we are.
  17. I agree. But if what you say happens and he remains the same it is going to be directly influenced by the oline we put around him. If this line performs how we fear Sam is going to revert to bad habits no matter how much we coach him up. He can still make plays but you're going to have to take the good with the bad.
  18. We made the same excuses about Marty leaving the cupboard bare when DG was here. The results from his approach weren't pretty. Using the same blueprint isn't likely to yield us any better odds this go around. Good thing Sam has some mobility.
  19. Our approach to the oline this offseason is giving me vibes from the dollar store Dave days. But rattle off those excuses fellas. Won't do us any good come January though.
  20. Let's be honest. In one half of a preseason game we saw the summary of Sam's career to this point. Some jitters some scary some good and some potential. Who knows what we're going to get
  21. You don't necessarily need a top 10 you just need someone who can make the necessary plays or you know..push the ball downfield. I have much hope for our young defense but I fear familiar results await us with this offensive line.
