The new Dwayne Jarrett?

Don't hate Matt Rhule. Don't support or engage in people making fun of his weight or his appearance or all this Fhule nonsense. If we went on to have a winning season and to the playoffs I would acknowledge and be happy he has proven people myself included wrong. But just as Ron Rivera received a great deal of blistering criticism that IMO was worse than what we are seeing now it was always going to happen to Matt too to some degree based on how he dropped his nutsack on the table and threw down the gauntlet with Cam Newton as his first order of business and did one thing after saying another. Following that up with the QB choices so far not even mentioning other factors is plenty justification for the criticism he has received. But I do agree that Fitterer should not get a pass. There's an odd dynamic here with Panthers general managers where fans immediately kick off a bromance of sorts and both Dave Gettleman and Scott Fitterer benefited from that before they had had actually done anything significant. But hey let's hope this team turns the corner. First order of business is capitalizing on the new look NFC South now without Drew Brees and Sean Payton. There should be no excuse not to this year.

The real rub is if Matt Rhule hadn't gotten his jimmies rustled when Teddy Bridgewater called out his offensive coaching staff for ineptitude we would not be saddled with Darnold and this neverending convo about another teams draft failure in the first place.
-
Not surprised a Rhule slurper doesn't want to hear the truth. Have fun with that. Cheers.
-
So the 63 million dollar head coach and Scott Fitterer just let Joe Brady make the pick? They didn't want him?
-
Nobody has said Baker didn't have to come into camp and work. Sam had leadership questions and he was the statistical worst QB of the last few years when we signed him to that 18 million dollar option and then Rhule coddled him all through camp and tried to hide him in preseason to the point even the official team website had to finally be like "okay guys we're playing Sam we promise". Darnold didn't earn a starting job here or in NY he was handed it and that's why he went on a podcast after being the worst starting QB in the NFL last season and sounded like an entitled jackass.
-
Yet you dragged Aaron Rodgers Brett Favre and Tom Brady into this to make a point to defend Sam Darnold getting a chance to fight for his job lmao. It's your bedtime nobody cares about your grudge you're still carrying over from a tinderbox slapfight. Let it go. Sweet dreams honey.

Thanks you too bud!
-
You've been arguing with everyone here 24 hours straight and you can't even differentiate between bored and board and you're on here talking down to people about locker room dynamics. Take a break.
-
Your insults are cute. Who cares if he's liked or not? All of these guys value their careers and their longevity more than anything and if he's a hindrance to their progress nobody is going to bat an eye if he's out as the starter. It's a business. Remember that? All of these things go for Baker Mayfield too. Or did you already forget how he left Cleveland? And he actually brought the Browns their first playoff win in 26 years.
-
You don't have a point. You're dragging hall of fame quarterbacks into this to argue semantics about respecting vets like anyone looks at Sam Darnold and sees a winner instead of a Milquetoast panicker who was the worst QB in the league from a clean pocket and was outdueled by Daniel f*cking Jones. Give it up.
-
Save your gifs. Nobody on this team was going to lose any sleep over the possible perception of Sam Darnold being passed over. He brings new meaning to the word awful. Even Cam Newton with the arm of a 50 year old brought more life to the Panthers. Baker was the guy the moment the ink was dry.
-
Some of these people are just arguing to argue. Darnold was coddled last summer it's just a fact. We never should have guaranteed him that option. You let him play and if he goes on to be your franchise guy you work something out. But he was atrocious like he's always been. Very different situation from Baker who has actually been successful as a starter and took a pay cut to play here. Obviously Baker was and is our best option which may not be saying very much given what we have seen the last few years but this farce competition was a waste of everyone's time that's just the truth.
-
Yeah I'm sure the team loved seeing Sam throw a backbreaking pick six at home against the Patriots and then walking back to the bench like he couldn't wait to leave the stadium. Very kind of you to speak up for him.
-
I don't believe this. But we need to get him on the field catching touchdown passes. We draft this kid in the second round sign Robby Anderson to a good sized contract extension and then proceed to not even give TMJ a gameday jersey in the second half of the season when we had nothing to play for. So why are there people in this thread diving in front of Matt Rhule criticism again?
-
Did I say his ability has been lowered? He's still young but the next two years for running backs are not kind to most. The biggest problem has been his coaching staff basically spamming Madden recommended playcalls that say "save me CMC". I have a hard time believing Rhule will actually be able to change from that and stick with it in 4th quarter situations. We shall see.
-
It's called a pattern. When you give a guy that many touches a game and he racks up multiple injuries it speaks for itself. He's a damn talented back. But he isn't a workhorse carry your team kind of player. You're going to have to accept facts sooner or later. For now you just cannot remove your emotion about him from the equation.
-
Well neither of us are doctors nor can we predict the future so to make any claim about how his injuries will affect him moving forward is entirely opinion based. We can play the would he or wouldn't he have been active if we were contenders game but again neither or us know. There are facts we do know. Both Rivera and Rhule have tried and failed at making McCaffrey the workhorse and giving him 30+ average touches a game. If the plan is to keep him healthy for the bulk of the season moving forward then they cannot use him the same way. I would hope to see him more in the receiving game and let Foreman get those late game handoffs for tough yards.
-
Yeah well that's what happens when you go on a podcast talking yourself up as being a good quarterback and then proceed to change nothing about your preparation when faced with a real QB competition.
-
Agreed hence the if healthy disclaimer. But Derrick Henry represents a rare size mismatch. Love CMC but if he were built like that...dayum.
