Not comparing the players just the use of analytics which has been and remains a key part of the structure of our approach in the draft since David Tepper became owner. All I'm saying is going forward we just don't know if this team will stop drafting Jonathan Mingo type prospects because the scouts are largely the same and the approach largely remains the same. Morgan has said he seeks players with a certain mentality (I refuse to type the phrase because this team has gotten taken to the woodshed too many times this season so it falls on deaf ears now) that's really the only key difference I can see as of right now. Next years draft will tell us what we need to know.

This is why he was drafted. And yes just like Scott Fitterer Dan Morgan also values RAS scores. Here's another one for you.

The first part of your post you had me fully bought in. That last line though.... SOILED IT!

He played at Alabama under one of the winningest coaches of the modern era. They beat the brakes off small schools because they're Alabama and Bryce could pretty much do whatever the hell he wanted behind that OL against that level of competition. But those games against Georgia and LSU stand out. That's how Bryce has looked in the NFL. Simply overmatched. That's why when you trade up to #1 for a QB you take the guy with the phsyical traits and the best arm. You play games and gamble on a point guard or the next Steph Curry and this is what you get.

Pistons at home. Hopefully a get right game.

This team and the center position is just maddening.

All joking aside I'd be fine if Morgan were that ruthlessly honest. We need some of that here. But unfortunately every indication says he and Scott had a full on bromance going. They were legitimately good friends. I imagine there were some minor things they disagreed on but as far as approach to football they bonded because they shared many similarities. The best hope I can take from all that going forward is that Dan has gotten a firsthand look at a GM fail spectacularly and can apply that as a learning tool. But let's be real here. If this were one of our division rivals we would all be laughing our asses off at them for finding themselves in such a situation after so much losing.

Bryce Young playing just decent enough for the rest of the season for the decision makers to justify standing pat at QB next season is a nightmare scenario that is possible. They've coddled him so much already nothing would surprise me.

Best and worst PFF grades from Panthers' Week 9 win over Saints
frankw replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
He got $44 million at signing and is due another 56 million. If we're ready to send QB's out of town on a rail with a kick in the ass then we can say that Robert Hunt needs to not have a bad game against the only defense in the league that is comparatively as bad as ours. I think that's reasonable. -
He's a locker room headache who thinks he's an all pro #1 WR when he's a solid second option. Our GM thought he was getting a bargain. Sadly not the case.
-
In a few posts we've gone from Dan Morgan was against every bad decision Fitterer made to he also wanted CJ Stroud. It's cope season!

Who can know? That's wishful thinking.

With Dan Morgan as assistant GM.

Listen. I like Dan Morgan a great deal on a personal level. I very much want him to be successful here. But can we agree that a solid house cleaning should have been in order after navigating some of the worst drafts the last few years that even made Marty Hurney look vaguely competent by comparison? My personal feeling is rearranging staff is basically delaying the inevitable. If others don't agree hey no problem. But we have had the worst win percentage in all of professional sports the last few years. We can trade players away all we want. We still have to prove we can actually draft competently going forward.
-
To my recollection we made a lot of changes to the pro scout side but not the actual draft scouts. It even says it there pro scouting. As in free agents and such.
-
Of course the trade is good. Doesn't change the fact Dan Morgan was assistant GM when he was selected and Dan Morgan has still yet to change one single draft scout.
-
Well that is certainly a pleasant surprise. It's a shame because Mingo seemed like a really good kid when we drafted him. But he didn't seem to want to put in the work to improve and didn't have the right mentality to become a great player at his position. Maybe this will wake him up. Either way not our problem anymore. BTW. To the people who are rightfully shredding Scott Fitterer for selecting Mingo. Your courteous reminder that the current GM who just traded him was right there with Scott when we drafted him. Let's keep things in perspective if fingers are being pointed.

Best and worst PFF grades from Panthers' Week 9 win over Saints

Only in your mind does that make sense. But regardless.... We are 30th in passing yards per game. There's your play dictating the commentary. -
Playcalling alone isn't going to change the fact that our QB room is bottom 3 in the league at best brosef.
-
P.S. we got the doors blown off by the Broncos and only scored one touchdown in the first quarter when the game was within reach. Only on the huddle does someone use data from that game to prop up the offense as somehow trending up.

I agree a bad game can happen to any player here and there. But we have a ridiculous sum of money tied up in the oline compared to the rest of the roster especially the defense so in my eyes it is far less excusable. -
Chuba Hubbard literally won us the game. Overall the Carolina Panthers remain 29th in points per game. We are 30th in passing yards per game. Thanks to the QB play or lack thereof. Canales playcalling and use of personnel isn't helping at times either.

Of course. Lucky for him no matter what happens he's got 75 million dollars in career earnings and counting to drown his sorrows in. He'll be alright.
