All aboard the Tommy Tremble bandwagon
Diehardpanth02 replied to Panther Believer's topic in Carolina Panthers
My eggplant grows at the thought of CMC behind him. Oh wait. That came out wrong. -
For sure seems like it would be a strike one and rightfully so. But as of right now it's all an if. I thought getting Sam was the sensical move before the draft tho. And was a proponent of a QB competition, but I can also in the same situation see why they played it like they did. Our depth was really, really, really bad. And it was always going to take more than one draft, or one QB to get us to play of contention. They checked box one. Depth, and overall roster upgrade. Some people believe QB was more important. And they're not wrong either.

Eh. Ya lost me at trading CMC. Although it would be cool to get him . But I think he may just retire. He's complaining to much, he's filthy rich, and made his money and I don't think he loves football anymore. Maybe with a fresh start, he would come back to life. But it seems he's just fed up. He would definitely require a kings ransom.

I figured someone say that. Think about it for a second. Rhule has a 7 year contract, not to say it couldn't be terminated. But even still 7 years. That's how much Tepper felt it was necessary to lock him in. Meaning by year 5 he expects us to be regular contenders. If in year 5 we haven't made it past a first round appearance then it's time to start thinking else where and that is realistic. But if we give Sam 2 years, it will only be Rhules 3rd. And Fitts second. I believe they'll be allowed one more shot at finding their QB if Sam isn't it. And that's assuming he doesn't pan out between now and then. Those seem like realistic deadlines IMO. 5 seasons is plenty for a coach to put together a 52 and compete if not, then he's not head coach material.

Trial and Error. Draft and Free Agency until one clicks. We did it with Cam. Seattle and New England Russ and Brady. Tampa bay by signing a free agent. You just need a guy that works with the personnel

Best point of view I've seen in regards to this. They're building a football team, and rebuilding a franchise from the ground up essentially. They mortgaged their future on surrounding the QB position with talent. So that then they can cycle through the QB carousel until they find their guy. Is Sam it? No one knows. But worst case scenario, if he doesn't pan out we've built a stable roster to draft or sign the next guy. Sam should be given the benefit of the doubt for 2 years tops. If he isn't making improvements then, as Jay-Z said we "on to the next one".

Panthers interviewing Morgan, others for Assistant GM job

Please go get me Dan Morgan. Luke leaving, this will heal me a little bit. -
Another opinion on our draft from Dator
Diehardpanth02 replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think B ratings are good ones.. probably the best. If you get an A that's just cuz the beat writer really personally preferred that player. If it's B, that means everyone understands why said player was drafted, but why when a so-called "flashy" was still left available. There wasn't a splash signing. It was workman like. Building from the ground up, and making the team deeper. Our splash signing is coming but this wasn't the year. Sometimes the big time name shows out, and sometimes they don't. As can turn into F's real quick if the player don't show up. And that hurts alot more than a "B" that's playing his roll, and playing it well. People forget this is a team sport. -
Luke Kuechly has resigned from the Panthers scouting staff

LUKE KUECHLY FOR PREZZZZZZZZZ FTWWWWWWWW!!!!!!! Luuuuuuuuuukkkkeeeeeeeeee. -
That video is crazy underrated. For a DT to Juke two players and run about 30-40yds for a TD on a pass intended to the flats. That's insane for the big man.

I've been a panther fan my whole life. Through the clausen days and during the age of Superman and Clark kent. But in all my years of fandom, we hAve never had a front office who could convert mid round picks into contributors. Hence why we've always struggled with depth, and turnover from year to year due to contracts. This is what I am the most excited about. Is the fact they understand positional value and obviously have faith that our coaches can bring the best out of guys. The last part I hope comes to fruition. If rhule can turn the athletes into mainstays that's big time.

Yeah the ellipses are there on my mobile. But it no longer gives the option to edit. Just share and report. Either way appreciate the clean up. My phone thinks Daviyon doesn't exist and bravvion is his indentical twin. Either way we got two solid D-tackles out of it.
-
Appreciate the help Tayzor All jokes aside how the heck do you edit posts now. Is there no way to do so, I swear my phone goes retarded Everytime I try and type daviyon lol.
-
Thanks bud. Struggling with he name. At least I got Nixon right. He looks to be a monster in the making.
-
Lmao if I could delete the post I would. I am struggling this morning lmao. I believe it is Daviyon and I've completely butchered his name and the post. Either in watching his film he looks nasty. So either way, with my inability to type his name this morning I'm still excited about the pick.
-
It's braviyon. In which I clearly notated in the original post, and comment after referring to the mistake. I also stated go watch the film. He looks promising, and a very intelligent player. He has the intangibles. But poo it. I really don't give af. Since the sight updates I can't seem to edit. Oh well. Poo away, if it makes you feel better.

This dude is a monster. Seriously athletic with the brains to go along with it. The more I research our draft picks the more excited I get. It's an odd feeling as panthers fan, because usually, as we all know with Marty Hurney, after round 2 there is a very high likelihood that it's just another pick. Someone who never really pans out. But now we got a GM that can find gold in the later rounds. I encourage you all to go watch film on this guy over on the youtube. Excited diehard fan right here. I love the type of played our FO is eyeballing. It's going to be huge in terms of depth, and finding value in the mid rounds which is something unheard of in charlotte! Would post a link, but you all have thumbs too. Anywho, Braviyon is my pick for steal of the draft. What about you guys? Who is your diamond in the rough based on current knowledge.

I don't even think he has to be Kittle 2.0 that's a big ask out of any player. George is a freak. But if he even comes up half of that or better, we have a trademark player. It's the value he adds to the scheme for me. His nastiness and willingness to decapitate people in the run game, and mostly any blocking situation is huge when you have guys Like CMC, DJ and Terrance Marshall toting the rock behind them.
-
You guys are sleeping on Tommy Tremble. That man is a monster. His hands are adequate, but the way we use our TE is similar to the 49ers is Their FB, Jucyszk. He going to giving Mccaffrey all kind of running room, opening up lanes on the edge in the run game. Not only that but as a stalk blocker for our WRs who could house it at any moment. This gives our athletes on the edges the much needed protection we've been waiting for. He's not a Pro-Bowl Tackle, or a Travis Kelce WR. But he's one of those players who does the dirty work, and loves to do it. And does it Nasty. He's Grimey. And that's exactly the type of player we need at that position even if he Nevers grows outside of a high level blocker. He may not be great in all aspects, but he's the type of Roll player that makes guys like CMC hall of famers.

How y'all gonna feel whenever we drop 60 million in the last 3 years on Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Darnold?
-
I can agree with this statement. Except for the fact that the comparisons your using is off. We're in a position now with a young QB with experience to draft a contingency plan, who could sit for a while to determine if Sam is going to make it. If he doesn't then we're fine with Fields. If he does, then we have a surplus and trade bait. It sets us up nicely to not be forced into a long term contract with Sam if he doesn't pan out. I'm just of the mindset that there is a reason why the guys listed above have been perennial contenders. Brady, Rodgers and many guys like that always provide wins with a sub par cast. We need that under center. When we find that then we continue the build. If they feel like he's THAT GUY. If not, then draft BPA get your tackle or CB. I just think completely disocounting having that talent stashed behind darnold is a bad idea. Bc we just don't know if Darnold will turn it around here. And if we were to trade that pick to NE, and fields comes out and meets the expectation. That'll sting a whole lot more. But I can see your side of things as well.
-
Probably because at that time the other option was Jimmy pickles. It's no execuse. The circumstances are different. We're bringing in a guy with potential, but no proven track record. To be honest, we should have considered drafting a QB as soon as Cams shoulder was destroyed as a contingency. We could've done so with plenty of guys. But our FO decided to wait or draft a LATE round flyer. Tom Brady and Drew Bledsoe Aaron Rodgers and Brett Fabre Steve Young and Joe Montana. I could list examples all day with teams taking this approach. And they've been far more successful than the Teams that took the Trent Dilter route. And let's keep in mind all the guys you point too are from a different era when defenses weren't hamstrung by the rule book. Shoring up the QB position in this day and age of the NFL is by far the single most important piece off the franchise. To remain perennial contenders anyway. Sure we could draft a tackle and I'd be ecstatic, but then the Darnold could darnold and we're back at square one. But go ahead. Go off.
-
I just don't understand why so many people are on the ropes with the idea of drafting a QB at 8. Competition breeds competitiveness. I want Darnold to fear for his Job. And I want a young hungry capaby rookie pushing him for his job. And let the best man win. Fields falling to us just seems like a blessing if it happens. As bad as I want a cornerstone tackle, it won't matter if we don't have a competent guy under center. Most of the teams with history of the most success at the QB position don't care how or when they get their guy. But when he's there and they can build competition for preseason they jump on the opportunity.
-
So we really buying into darnold huh? 9 wins in a 17 game season will make me vomit. It's 10 minimum for me. Then next man up. We should not accept mediocrity.
-
Competition at QB. If fields or lance is there take them. OL. But as much of a luxury as it is, a TE can block for you and be a threat in the passing Game. So Lance/Fields, and Pitts If neither QB is there. Then use the remaining draft for OL. Possibly a CB.
