Which QB Best Fits Reichs RPO Style Offense?
Jackie Lee replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
Obviously Stroud would be better running RPO's -
We have 6 draft picks, that's pretty standard
-
Have we ever had room to sign 20 UDFA's? They must like their core 53 quite a bit
-
My worry is a play action under center keeper, he rolls out and
-
That's my backup

David Newton: Panthers leaning toward Bryce Young
Jackie Lee replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I need to hear what Bryce Youngs Ceiling is, because it seems like "Crafty game manager that can't play under center and shouldn't run the ball" A more adventurous Teddy B but smaller -
Sanders basically mirrors TJ Watt on Ras, but got experience in the middle this past year. Scary. I like them both, either one at 39 would be amazing and would start day 1
-
I really can't see why anyone would love his arm talent. I'm watching a bunch of tape right now and he just seems like a game manager to me. Like a Teddy B who can/will/needs to scramble to find a throw. CJ can carve people up from anywhere, just seems like it would translate to the NFL better to me
-
If we were still 4-3 Campbell would be perfect to step in as the MLB, in the 3-4 Sanders is more versatile as an edge rusher/ILB combo. Imagine swapping Sanders and Luvu back and forth from OLB/ILB depending on the down. Both could stay on the field and drive OC/Qb's crazy
-
Ok, went through both guys vs Georgia (Both Bama games). CJ>Bryce
-
I've been planning on watching some Bryce stuff tonight and tmrw. Curious to know what his consensus best game was. I'll definitely watch the Georgia game since that's the closest you can get to comparing the two back to back even though GA had a lot of turnover between seasons
-
Mostly the pocket movement stuff that he didn't really show before, accuracy while throwing to his left when rolling out, perhaps going through full reads but theres enough footage showing him being able to scan the field for me to be comfortable he can do it
-
Stroud's last game he did what everyone wanted to see him do so not much to it. If he looks close to that week in and week out that's a franchise qb
-
That looks crazy in slo mo. Time stamped
-
This was the actual play he sprained the shoulder on
-
Apparently shoulder sprains are already a thing with Bryce
-
PJ is 1" taller and at least 10-15 pounds heavier than Bryce for reference
-
Get ready for Derrick Browns next contract…..

Yeah I usually disagree with who he puts the blame on when there is a drop or bad route/O-line breakdown or whatever. JT/Josh/Warner all have different opinions. Josh and Warner actually played a substantial amount and seem to have a more omniscient view of how they break down tape

David Newton: Panthers leaning toward Bryce Young

So Bryce can quickly process that he can't make a throw that CJ could make. It's nearly impossible to compare each teams O-lines and how opposing teams decided to pressure them if you switched Bryce and CJ on their respective teams. I think Stroud can give a team more opportunity for adjustments that will counter whatever defensive schemes other teams come up with. Bryce's style is great when it works but when it doesn't you got a lot less playbook to pick from at halftime when you need to make adjustments -

Stronger arm though -
You don't think it's interesting that he was under the radar, showed up as a late invite to the Elite 11 and won MVP? I like the underdog working class grinder type. He's way more mature than your average 21 year old

More advanced stats on Bryce and C.J
Jackie Lee replied to panther4life's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah I wanna watch more Flutie and Russ under center stuff, Kyler hasn't done much of it yet but it will be interesting to see if the new coach forces him into it and whether it'll work or not. Thanks for the level headed discussion -

Yeah, it's harder to the sell the play action from shotgun, and the RB can't get as much momentum as he would from getting the hand off from under center. I'm sure he can pull off handoffs under center on short yardage stuff, but actually rolling out to pass with a DE in his face might not be all that effective. That's when the big QB hits and batted passes would be a legit concern -

Young stans are ignoring this thread because there is no way to sugar coat being too small to run play action and QB sneaks under center. We got this crazy ass coaching staff and they probably can't play QB under center? Seems like it would be a waste of resources
