  1. Pickett isn't as gifted as Gabbert that should tell you something
  2. That's not how it works. You scout traits that can translate to the next level. Willis arm talent and ability to create and throw of platform translate. College production isn't a good indicator of next level skills. Of course you rather have it but Stats don't=good. Stats can be inflated or deflated based on talent around them or college system. Basically a bad offensive coordinator or offensive line can make anyone look good or bad. Look at what they can do is the best way to scout. If we looked at stats as the end all be all we wouldn't have Josh allen.
  3. I don't think he's nearly as inaccurate as people think. They make it seem like he really can't throw. And yet after practice at the senior bowl. Video is in the link don't know how to embed tweets on here. https://twitter.com/ChaseGoodbread/status/1489358463180410884?s=20&t=dD1qHUsQKxMfU80A2cjOXA
  4. Who's to say he can't do that? It's the same situation as cam coming out of Auburn. They said his job first and foremost was to diagnose and throw the football but because he wasn't asked to do so it's assumed he can't? This isn't rocket science and since he scored the highest wonderlic score by qbs in this class I'm going to assume he has the brain to read and diagnose as good or better than the other guys. He comes with all the parts to excel at the next level you just got to coach him up. No other qb has that upside in this class
  5. Whatever tech they time how fast players are moving in the game and throwing velocity during the game and such. Pretty interesting https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.footballscout365.com/amp/senior-bowl-observations-the-qb-s-and-the-prospects-whose-stock-is-on-the-rise
  6. At worst I have seen Willis at late first round. How so you come into the league with top 5 rushing ability( probably top 3) and a top 10 arm. And yet you come away with 2nd round talent? But then again people wanted to say Lamar jackson should change positions and went near the second round as well. People who don't like the way a certain guy plays tend to overlook what he does well.
  7. No he couldn't. Did you watch the senior bowl? He ran away from those guys as well and they were NFL caliber with some first rounders. They even have their timed field speed and Willis was moving at least 2-4 miles per hour faster than the next fastest qb who was not Pickett. Yall need to stop playing with Willis speed.
  8. I get what your saying. But to get away with the" backyard footall anticks" as you say you have to be an above average athlete by NFL standards. Running slower than a 4.55 area you won't be able to really get it done in today's NFL. Kyler has around sub 4.5 speed so he can run away from most defenders. He's also a pretty gifted passer. Johnny at a 4.7 isn't running away from defensive linemen or linebackers seeing as how a defensive tackle at 340 Jordan Davis just ran a 4.7.
  9. He was arguably on the chopping block before Watson was a desire. He hasn't been a top 10 probably not a top 15 qb.
  10. He hasn't been getting it done which is why he is on the way out. Obviously you don't let a guy walk who was winning or you had confidence in winning you playoff games. He hadn't been getting it done enough I suppose.
  11. If you want to nitpick it. But who's to say any of the tackles are a sure thing? Every player you pick has a chance to miss. Everyone was sure Derrick brown was the safest defensive tackle in years. He is looking kinda meh... Erick fisher the went number 1 to the chiefs, Luke joeckel to the jags. Greg Robinson... I mean offensive tackles are almost as dangerous as qbs in terms of bust rate. Few of them turn out as advertised excluding the last class or 2. Wirfs class looked really good. And the guys last year. Tackle can be a crap shoot as well. But I get your point.
  12. People kill me with these the value is here and all this. Guess what. Value is for people who have enough all ready. You don't go shopping for a luxury car when you riding a bike. We know the tackles are safer and probably better but if you don't have a guy to build around that value doesn't really matter. The value of a qb isn't just in that. Your valuing that qb vs all the other guys you can sign on his rookie contract vs a tackle.
  13. If he couldn't get it done with all that talent in Cleveland. I don't want to see what he does with less here.
  14. Also hard to compare the two. Newton had all world tools. Dangerous runner. Manziel I see as more the guys you brought up rodger the dodger, Tarkenton, guys who could move well behind the line of scrimmage. Manziel had a decent arm, I guess like Pickett or Mayfield. Manziel reminded me a lot of Mayfield or visa versa rather. Ran a 4.7 not the same level of rushing ability as Willis. Manziel was picked at 22. I don't think his risk was as high as cam because we picked at 1 with cam. But his upside wasn't nearly as high as cams either.
  15. It's literally the same thing. You were highly against cam then just like most of the talking heads. A lot of people said don't take him in the first round and he wasn't even the number qb1 In the class. He came from a gimmicky offense (Willis as well) was looked at and a running qb who was a one read and run. Now difference is he was 6'6 250 but still was a boom or bust pick. Also we arent picking first so willis isnt as large a gamble. But he has been mocked as hugh as 2 off his potential. He has a similar running style to cam but smaller. I think Willis is a more accurate passer than cam at this stage.
  16. pretty much cause hes safer in the short term this year sense.
  17. I mean if I'm going to gamble Willis upside.
  18. Personally on defense I love sauce G. Guy has Sherman size with much better than Sherman speed. But we don't need a corner. It's like having a girlfriend but hey that girl across the bar is looking damn good...
  19. This. i can't see Fitts sitting there while the bulk of talent flies off the board til round 4.
