Pat Kirwan made an interesting point when discussing TE vs. slot for Panthers needs in the draft. He basically said the Panthers suck at punt and kickoff return as well as the TE position and slot wr's can often fill the role of punt and kick off returner, especially if we get a good one. I guess that depends on how we think of Trevor Etienne in those roles. Also talked about the depth of wr vs. lack of depth of te in the draft. I think te falls off pretty far after Delp or the Vandy kid.

Signing Walker to just one year (at only 4M???) is a head scratcher to me. The guy was a seventh round pick, but he took over the starting LT spot and held it for three straight seasons on a good football team. Finding a legit LT is tough. Just look at this year's draft where people are saying that the top two prospects (Mauigoa and Fano) are actually RT's and the LT list is full of guys that need a year to develop. Waiting around for Icky to shock the world and return to form as a LT is not going to work out. Free Agent A+

Sadiq feels like a lazy comp. Sure he would be a big improvement over what we have but at a position we don't and maybe can't (midget qb) utilize. I hope the staff puts together a list of players you automatically take at 19 (Freeling, Lemon, Downs, Faulk) and if none are there, trade back to look at (Thieneman, McNeil-Warren, Proctor, Lomu, Allen, Iheanachor, Banks, Woods). I get the people that think an OT would be a waste because we temporarily patched that hole, and ILB and safety are a waste because that is high to take those particular positions, but by trading back we get extra picks to fill every need. A draft that has an OT, S, ILB, slot WR, and C would really put us in a good position moving forward if we get an extra first three rounds additional pick.

That can be said of any position. Ok, we can add a good Z WR later than the first round. WR is very deep this year. Other positions like DL and OT not so much.

According to the trade values chart dropping from 19(875) to 22(780) is worth 45 point or a 4th round pick (#127). QJ had a couple of break out type games; no way they trade a late fourth rounder for him.
