I was in on Mac Jones after his first start for the 49ers, but upon some reflection and early replies from this board caused me to think there are some problems: 1. he doesn't have a strong arm either but can put some zip on short accurate passes; we would have the same problem with him as we do with Bryce in not being able to stretch the field vertically; 2. he's under contract next year so we would have to give up some draft capital to get him; and 3. is Mac actually a good qb now or is he a product of Kyle Shanahan and his offensive scheme (neither of which will be in Carolina next year)?

At this way too early point, i would be very happy with Arvell Reese. He can blitz from the off ball lb position but OSU also lines him up on the edge to rush the passer and he is very effective.

Are you saying he is a first round talent? He has looked pretty bad this year. I would not take him top 15 and that is where we are likely to be.

I doubt we finish the year picking 16, but we aren't picking in the top five or even ten the way things are looking. I would say draft Mendoza, Moore, or Simpson with the first round pick. If those are not available, Sellers, Nussmeir, Mateer, or Maiava with the second round pick. I really doubt that happens though. I think we extend Bryce and use pick's 1 and 2 on a LB and RT. The draft is April 23, 2026 and the deadline for extending Bryce is May 1, 2026 so could be interesting next Spring.
