I liked Teddy, but the thought of picking an updated version of him in Pickett at #6 makes me irrationally angry. Now... if we trade back and acquire a 2nd round pick, let's have a conversation about that man Aqeel Glass.

If we draft Pickett and he is ass, one of you ass clowns saying that they need to sack up and throw away 1st rd picks on a mediocre QB class owes me a ticket to a game (nosebleeds are a-ok, I'm just grateful to be there).

There are tons of stories of WRs sharing how they got into a WR room and a veteran took them aside to help them learn their craft and be a better pro. I can't think of any job that wouldn't benefit from having a mentor available to guide you. A position coach is more or less a manager. Having that senior guy on the team that looks out for you because you're a part of the team makes you better. It's the same story as Revis' when he got to the Patriots. He stayed just on his man until Brandon Browner beat his ass during practice because Revis wouldn't communicate nor help out his teammates. He just took his assignment.

Might be worth mentioning that if a guy is suddenly catching your eye just because he's there and not terrible (ie: Jack Coan), it's probably a good idea to watch their college games and ask why their numbers were consistently garbage. Excellent year though to take a developmental talent. A lot of potential QB2s and QB3s that could work their way into a roster spot within two to four years.

It amazes me how much casual fans overlook the importance of a QB's fit within a system. I guess they're looking for the same versatility that Matt Rhule looks for in an offensive lineman.

Most of the fan studies do support what you're saying in regards to being most likely to get a QB in the first two rounds (with a huge drop-off between the 1st and 2nd). The chances of landing a franchise QB outside of the 1st? Next to non-existent, even though the chances of landing one in the 1st round isn't exactly reassuring. 2nd (7) - Jalen Hurts, Derek Carr, and Jimmy Garoppolo are the only success stories here for 42.9% hit rate in the 2nd. 3rd (10) - Jacoby Brissett and CJ Beathard have gotten chances to show that they can start. The verdict is still out on Davis Mills, but he hasn't eliminated himself yet so we'll go ahead and include him as a hit for a rate of 30% in the 3rd over the last 10 years. 4th (13) - Dak Prescott is the only franchise guy from this, but let's go ahead and include Josh Dobbs who's made it as a back-up and Logan Thomas who is now the starting TE for Washington. That's a 23.1% chance of drafting a QB in the 4th that does at least something to contribute to the team. 5th (14) - I refuse to acknowledge Nathan Peterman as a success story. I mean... maybe a half point for Jake Fromm just so that there's SOMETHING? 0.04%. 6th (11) - Gardner Minshew is the name here, though Sudfeld has kept alive as a back-up. Sam Ehlinger put out some interesting tape this season also. We'll be kind here and include them to make it a 27.3% hit rate. 7th (14) - Alone stands Trevor Siemian. 7.1% hit rate. UDFA (104) - Huntley & Heinicke look to be the only meaningful success stories from this group. That's a hit rate of 0.02% if you're hoping to find the next Tony Romo. Nobody in the last 8 years has found a franchise QB outside of the 1st round with the exception of Dak (4th) and possibly Hurts (2nd). However, not including the last two drafts, only 7 out of 19 QBs drafted in the 1st round are with the team that drafted them. Those QBs are Murray, Jones, Mayfield, Allen, Jackson, Mahomes, and Watson. Of that group, Jones and Mayfield might not be with their original teams after the upcoming season and Watson isn't even able to play due to his legal troubles. When we look at the current crop of QB prospects, depending on what makes a player a 1st round prospect for you, there's arguably only 2 - 4 guys that with 1st round grades (with only two of them being worthy of top-15 selections!). So even though I understand the chances of finding a guy outside of the 1st being very slim, I also understand that gambling on the next Teddy Bridgewater at #6 is even more harmful (and this is coming from somebody that likes Teddy!).

I had misread at the time of that post and thought that both the HBCU Combine + Collegiate Bowl were in Bama. Looks like Glass chose the Collegiate Bowl (which was in Cali) and can still go to the NFL Combine. Also still waiting on a compiled list from the HBCU Combine. There's been a couple of tweets for some of the players that caught the eyes' of coaches but nothing thorough nor easily displayable.

Holy poo Sam's OL was terrible. I've watched UNC vs. Pitt, WF, Duke, and ND so far (wanting to watch NC State so that I can watch Ekwonu as well) and he was constantly under duress. The Liberty OL was supposed to be experienced but I read that their LG + RT dealt with injuries throughout the season. They look every bit the part of a bad OL tho.

Literally watching the game vs. Ole Miss right now and all it's doing is solidifying him and Corral as better prospects than Pickett for me. Corral looks like the cleaner of the two, but Willis' ceiling is clearly higher. His OL forgot they were playing that day from the looks of how it's played out so far. I noticed that Willis had 27 rushing attempts in the box score, which is likely a direct result of the OL play (further evidenced by the 9 sacks that he took, one of them coming on a 3-man rush). One of his picks came as a result of a WR giving up and getting stripped. The one that he had at the end of the first half though was really bad and made concerned me about his ability to read a defense. He had a man heading up the middle of the field that looked like the better option from the moment the snap occurred.

I'm trying so, so hard to not let myself hope. If this is followed up by signing Armstead to play LT and trading back to pick up Linderbaum to play center while also picking up a pick to gamble on a QB with...

Garbers is a great practice squad QB at best imo which is why I've got him as the #20 QB in my personal rankings. His stats + game footage are baaad.

THANK YOU I literally just posted yesterday in another thread about how Pickett and Burrow are not even remotely the same. Burrow put up elite stats AND film against elite competition. As much as Burrow had a great team surrounding him, Pickett had himself a fairly solid team as well. The Pittsburgh defense was #2 in sacks, #15 in 3rd down defense, tied for #8 in INTs (#1 in INT TDs), and #6 rushing defense out of all FCS teams. Jordan Addison is a very good WR and the Pitt OL played consistently well

Both of them had probably the least effective OLs to work with as well. Out of the current QB prospects, Willis has been sacked the most (52) and Howell the second most (49). The UNC OL tied for allowing the most TFLs (94, Liberty's was 83). Nevada, South Dakota State, and Kent State's lines were bad as well.
