Smitty on the 2024 WR Draft Class (w/cliffnotes)
csx replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm not proclaiming anything about him but his struggles have obviously been overblown or at least misdiagnosed. Hands weren't his problem -
Playing run defense, giving full effort......could be a number of things

Let's look at numbers to get some context. For 1 his drop rate is roughly half of what Nacua had. Nacua had %8.1 drop rate while Mingo had 4.7% drop rate While Nacua enjoyed a 73% catchable balls while Mingo had 55% catchable balls. Fan assumptions are not something to base debates off when numbers exist Everyone loved Nacua but he had nearly double the drop rate being served much better passes. He produced with the benefit of a HOF QB and great coaching https://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/advanced-stats-wr.php?team=CAR -

First round picks going to good teams with good QBs playing better than Mingo going to our mess with Bryce Young isn't that meaningful. This year is a big opportunity for him with Canales -

How many were catching passes from Bryce Young ? Many of those were catching passes from veterans and hall of fame qbs. Mingo would look better playing for Reid, McVay with Mahomes, Stafford, etc -
Worth nothing at all

You can't trade him unless he accepts an offer.

I was responding to him saying he was the best player in Free Agency. He's likely 3rd edge

Tim Donnelly on Trent Brown, Evans, Burns & Motown
csx replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Outside of the Huddle the thought is 1 first -
That doesn't actually set his value though
-
Agree. Reward the guys like Brown and Luvu and set the tone for expecting toughness
-
Josh Allen from Jax is way ahead of Burns. He had 17.5 sacks, 2x as many qb pressures and is a good run defender. Chris Jones is also a FA and Hunter. Burns isn't the top FA

You don’t make decisions to save face of a fired GM. That would really be embarassing.

On top of that if you've seen him at camp he sits off to himself doing the drills alone whenever possible. He needs not a leader. -

Because trading more than a 1st and paying premier player salary for a one dimensional pass rusher who isn't premier isn't smart for any team. He's been here long enough to see he doesn't really move the needle -

I'd be happy getting 1 first for Burns -
I hope I'm wrong but anyone trading for Burns and a contract he wants seems unlikely

Getting Crunch Time for the Panthers and Brian Burns

This logic shouldn't need to be explained. -
I'm not claiming Young is not short but his combine height was 5-foot-10 1/8. Why are we talking about sub 5'9" qbs? Kyler Murray and Young are exactly the same height. Why are yall going on about this shortest in 60s years when we have official measurements at our fingertips to show theres another thecsame height right now? Who was also #1 overall ?
