Are you really comparing QB numbers 20+ years apart? We are in the age of the offense where QBs are putting up historic numbers and the NFL is continuously changing its rules to cater more towards explosive offense. It has allowed guys like Brees, Rogers, Stafford, Brady etc to play well into their late 30s and even their 40s. I don’t even want to imagine what Bryce would look like playing in the early 2000s NFL.

Unless you are going by some twisted definition of elevate, this isn’t something one believes. The numbers back it up as fact.

So having a QB that allows an already good player to play even better wouldn’t be considered elevating to you? Smith had back to back sub 1k seasons with a one armed Jake Delhomme, Matt Moore, Jimmy Clausen and one game of Brian St Pierre. Cam 100% elevated a 32 year old Steve Smith.

I guess the point I was trying to make went completely over your head. All of those guys mentioned who were on the team in 09-11 had essentially career worst years in 2010 and must have just magically turned it around the next season. Or you know, the more logical explanation is that it matters significantly who is under center operating the offense. Steve smith is basically a HoF WR and he put up 500 yards and 2 TDs with Clausen under center and the next year with a rookie Cam put up 1400 yards and 7 TDs. You can have all the talent in the world but it doesn’t really matter if your QB sucks.

Call me crazy but with what I have seen through 5 weeks this team would have 3 or 4 wins with league average QB play. His first quarter turnovers have killed us time and time again. I really think we would have beat the Jags and Cards. Idk wtf happened against the Pats. We actually have some talent on offense and I think Dave’s offense with a QB who can push the ball downfield would look completely different. You can tell he wants to run to set up big play action chunk plays and currently can’t.
