Why do so many think Ben Johnson is superior head coaching candidate?

Seems like we let our GM pick the coach he wanted rather than Tepper picking his guy. That’s progress in the right direction imo.

He has a better resume than Ben Johnson and already has a relationship built with our new GM. If you want a young, offensive minded coach he should be the top candidate. 2 years as Qb coach Russel Wilson had 2 of his 3 best quarterback ratings. 2 years as passing game coordinator DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett both had fantastic seasons. Goes back to QB coach and resurrects Geno Smith’s career. Moves to Tampa as OC and does the same for Baker Mayfield. None of the other offensive candidates have a 5 year stretch as impressive as that. If you want Bryce Young to have the best chance at being successful Canales is the man for the job.

This offseason the team just needs to get a new coach, get healthy, shed Haywards 30 million dollar anchor and sign some actual NBA bench talent. We don’t even have a legitimate back up PG ffs. I don’t think there has been a single game this year where the entire team has been healthy. Our two highest paid players have missed 50% of the season. Of course you’re going to suck when that’s the case.

Hire Dave Canales now and I’ll be happy.

It’s more like Tepper hired an average technician and forced him to try and turn a Toyota Prius into an F1 car.

This is the way I interpreted what he was saying. Dak is fantastic when everything is bouncing his way. He’s played poorly in the playoffs the few times he’s been there. He is playing fantastic this year in large part due to the defense holding teams to under 20 almost every week allowing them to run the score up. He completely folded in the Arizona and 49ers games. It is hard to recall a time recently where Dak has taken over and won the Cowboys a close game. I would say the Seattle game this year but Pete Carrol made some very questionable calls going for it on 4th down twice around mid field with under 5 minutes left in the 4th.

It’s the NFL you just have to hit on a QB. (Draft of FA) Could be 6 months could be 6 years. The Panthers have been stuck in a rebuild state since Tepper bought the team. Everything that has been tried at QB since Tepper took over has not worked.

We watched Bryce’s ceiling last night look very pedestrian when he didn’t have Tyreek Hill to bail him out. He absolutely crumbled under pressure in crunch time all while rookie Levis shined to a historic comeback win.

This is the key right here. A play that flashes is usually something highlight worthy, makes people go wow that was amazing. Seeing a few glimpses of average NFL QB play in a sea of mediocrity does not equate to “flashes”.
