There is something to player development being affected by coaching staff instability. That isn’t a fantasy. It has to be a factor. It was a factor. We don’t know much about much because it was just this churn of players from recent drafts not being the new coach’s ‘guy’. It is a different value system every other year or maybe twice in the same year and lately an annual thing, every time changing the fundamentals of your evaluations and also what is being taught. This isn’t me saying Fitterer or whoever made those calls on which players to draft/sign/release/trade/not trade, wasn’t bad. I think I am saying that dysfunction breeds malfunction and the ideal is a focused and aligned staff for multiple years to see if you can grow players. Consistency, stability, probably what the team needs.

I saw one of these radio blowhards' youtube where they were saying, I know it isn’t real football and just shorts, but you can tell. He was making his point based on the WRs aren’t affected so much by non contact as their thing mostly involves body positioning and hand fighting. What he totally forgets is when the pads come on and the speed increases it affects the guy throwing the ball. Everybody looks great in shorts, you can’t tell until the contact starts and the speed picks up.

Look this is getting ridiculously speculative. I posted something about this because I had never heard it and it was interesting; an article concerning John Lynch and I think it was about him. A part of it was him basically saying Navarro wanted to hire him to help get the team together if he won his bid. I can’t find it with a quick search online but I posted about it here and not that long ago maybe two or three months. Somebody probably remembers it. This was before Lynch was hired in SF. I don’t think that makes Navarro sound bad at all. Maybe it wouldn’t have worked out, maybe it would. OTOH, if Tepper had beern intelligent enough to identify Lynch, he probably would have found a way to phuck it up.

We do have a 2nd next year left over from all that. If this guy is legit I don’t mind him missing the first few games. It is a long season. I wanted a top C too but just didn’t think it was a thing they were going to do so I guess I am not that frustrated over it. Edge rusher would’ve been nice but what was there I don’t remember.

It doesn’t have to be about Darnold vs all time good QBs it is about probably better level of play - for so fuging much less expenditure - in 2023 and maybe 2024 while the team gets built and with more assets in house due to not squandering them to move up. I mean damn we were 2-15, how much worse do you think we would have finished? I was always against that trade up, always will be probably. They don’t trade the pick when a bona fide generational prospect is there. I mean, they had Fields, and stood pat with that over Bryce. And CJ lol. But at least they got paid to pass.

That hitch thing is what I saw right off. (I called it a skip step, but it is more an extra move). When the lesser velocity of his ball is added to whatever slight delay that hitch triggers, you could be looking at measurable additional time for the ball to be at the target. Just a split second makes a difference at that level. That’s what he has to somehow resolve. By just great timing and anticipation, in the best case. But worse case, you have those balls slightly behind, they get defended or picked just by giving defenders that margin. That was my issue all along. There are plenty of things he can do well and, especially, the more open the targets can get the more margin he can use. It is just, harder for that guy than it would be for the same guy in a proto body.

Answer or not. What about Darnold is not an upgrade from what we saw our QB do last year?

The leadership angle is awkward. Number one he is not a loud personality. And you need performance to back up talk because leadership is not don’t do as I do, do as I say. You have to do your job right. If he can get it together on the field they will listen to him, it has to be lead by your actions first.

Could be. Seems like every day lately I read about a different UFL guy.

UFLgot any defensive guys? We seem to have WR on the brain. I hope this guy is great and makes the team, at least ups the competitive level in the WR room. Just sayin we need some defensive depth.

At this point I doubt anyone else would bring Bryce in to be their starter. Just us. I hope he is better by a lot not just a little.

They have all the rookies. The DC game has Ron though. With the new QB. It is weird. pantherclaw, Bryce sort of is what he is, and in Madden he makes throws the real Bryce can’t make. Here and there. He ain’t ain’t a top QB in Madden though, lots of picks. aone of them lol was the throw that scares the hell out of me when he throws it, out to the boundary... quack quack.

Not saying it is the 2024 Panthers but it is possible to move the LOS vs that if you are built to do it.

There is a distinction between different ready to play now players’ floors. If the org deems the floor too low meaning this is it, they could get buy but there probably won’t be a second contract, then I could see passing on ready to play now in the draft ; you can find that player in people’s cuts and general FA. I’m not arguing against any of the names we passed that became stars. Dumb passing on some of them.

I know zero about Madden football but was sucked in due to boredom and watched a couple of simulation games or Madden contests whatever they are. Someone is running 2024 season schedules played as Madden games. They are about an hour long. Maybe you guys hate them, I don’t know enough about setting up a Madden contest to know if it is righteous but it was kind of fun to look at. Haven’t watched this one yet, probably will tonight. Bryce looked really good vs Chicago in week 5 lol. I was shocked. The OL, entire team, included.

I like Darnold a whole lot better. He has some upside because his tools are there. I don’t know what Bryce has. Hopefully a great scheme with a superior running game.

They kept Woods that’s enough for me. I like Evero and Morgan and if they are in, I’m in. I trust them pretty much. You know I just realized what a good spot we might be in with Morgan and Canales being tight. Morgan has that defensive mentality and can interface with the coordinator. Maybe better than Canales can. But is aligned with the offensive vision as well. I hate to be overly optimistic off of unproven stuff so let’s just call it an observation.

Nobody was open!!!! Or nobody was SEC open. I hope he learned something from that (if he didn’t Canales is Johnny on the spot with that 2.7 to help him out).
