Saban up and retired for a reason. That reason was NIL. It's a totally different game now. A lot of old guard high level college football and basketball coaches have retired recently and it's not a coincidence.

I think the people excited about the possibility of Belichick aren't looking at this from the only eyes that really matter - under 20 year old high level football players. A 20 year old transfer portal kid was 13 when Belichick won his last Super Bowl. A 16 year old 4 or 5 star HS recruit was 9. That's a lifetime ago for those kids. They honestly probably see Belichick as that guy who was just carried by Tom Brady because they don't remember him at his peak. Belichick is a hard nosed no nonsense old school football coach who is used to being able to tell All Pro level NFL players that it's his way or the highway and winning those battles. How in the hell would he adapt to kissing HS kids' asses to beg them to play for him? It's just absurd. It would be a hilarious trainwreck to watch just please god let it happen somewhere other than Chapel Hill. Evidently his kid must be a trash ball coach if Bill can't land him a gig with his connections and feels like he has to go get himself another job to full bore nepotism his kid a job.

They played one ranked team all year and lost them lost to two unranked teams and they're two star players who are carrying them are heading to the NFL and Deion will probably be moving on to his next grift.

I would almost guarantee that Clemson is a top 10 team when it comes to average television ratings. Sports fandom is very much what have you one for me lately and Clemson has been one of the top teams in the country over the last decade. Honestly, there was a stretch of a few years when they were THE top team in the country.

They don't want to play because they have nothing to gain and everything to lose. They're in the exact same spot as ND without the brand name. They've played a soft schedule and have one win over a ranked team but unlike ND their one loss is actually to a decent top 20 team. SMU's resume is every bit as strong as ND's but ND is sitting very comfortably at #4 probably looking at a first round bye while SMU is probably playing for their playoff lives. It's fuged up. They really need to force ND into a conference if they want to be eligible for the playoffs.

The conferences want nothing to do with losing our on that $$$ though

This doesn't look like a tournament team and if we miss the tournament I can't see Hubert surviving.
