So Who Can/Should we Get as our New OC if Rhule Stays?
LinvilleGorge replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers

Investment? Holding onto those PSLs at this point is like those folks still stuck holding onto GameStop stock.

Most interested in hearing about Willis, Zappe, and Strong. See how they handle the step up in competition level and look with a stronger supporting cast. I've already formed my opinion on Howell, Ridder, and Pickett.

Is the defense really performing that well?
LinvilleGorge replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
This. If we had a good offense I think they'd look a lot better but this is a D kind of like the Manning era Colts. It's built to get after the QB and play with a lead. It's exposed when our offense sucks and can't score so the opposing offense can just run the ball down our throats not feeling pressured to put up lots of points. -
If they hire O'Brien that's gonna be hilarious. The guy who was last seen in the NFL creating the Texans' dumpster fire.

I just wonder which was due to editing? The first one or the "edit". I used to do a decent amount of freelance writing. Depending on the outlet, it's not surprising when you see "your" article posted and it's not a damn thing you actually wrote.

I fully expect Jason Garrett. He's still a "name". He's a former NFL HC. Rhule initially said he wanted one on his staff before bringing in the whole college crew. Rhule will sell Tepper on this as part of his "process" and Tepper will throw enough Money at Garrett to make him say "ah fug it, I'll cash another check before picking up the fishing rod and golf clubs".

I'm there as of a couple of weeks ago. Haven't watched the last two games. Don't plan on watching anymore Rhule coached Panthers games. If Howell find a nice landing spot I'm probably out for good. If he doesn't, then maybe I'll be inclined to tune in when the Panthers push the reset button again. I'm just not interested in watching Rhule and company shoot for another quick fix afterthought vet QB that no one else wanted which is exactly what's going to happen.

David Newton is a fuging embarrassment but he's the ESPN beat writer we deserve.

Any QB with any ability to chart his own course steers clear. The only way we lure a FA is to grossly overpay. The only way we land a guy in a trade is if he knows he's going to be released if he isn't traded and that he can't get near his current deal on the FA market (enter Jimmy G). These guys need to be scouting the fug out of rookie QBs. That's their only shot. God help the poor kid they'd draft though.
-
Sure we can. We aren't gonna spend any money in the OL. I doubt it'll be Mitch unless we pay him way too much. Seems like he's taking a smart approach to his career. He took an obvious backup job in a good organization to try to get right. I think he's going to be very careful picking his next shot. He knows it'll likely be his last opportunity to prove himself as a starter. The right situation wasn't there last year. This sure as hell ain't it.

Here comes Jason Garrett at OC and Jimmy G at QB and a repeat of the last two years. I just hope we limit the amount of future assets we let Rhule and Fitterer trade away desperately trying to save their jobs. Tepper has ran this ship straight into the ground hit bedrock and now he's breaking out the heavy equipment and explosives to keep digging. We are so completely fuged.

Report: Harbaugh might be tempted to go back to NFL
LinvilleGorge replied to SuperBowlBound's topic in Carolina Panthers
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/01/08/jim-harbaugh-reportedly-told-recruit-hell-entertain-nfl-opportunities/ A recruit's father is saying Harbaugh told his kid that he'll entertain NFL opportunities. I respect this. I respect honesty. These kids are making life altering decisions here. Tell them the truth. That's a helluva improvement over Fatt Rhule's lying ass and what he told kids who were already playing for him at Temple and Baylor all the while he was packing his bags at home and waiting on his agent to finalize the details of his new contract elsewhere. -
I'm inclined to agree about Bienemy and Leftwich. Andy Reid's OC is just a title. Andy Reid is the OC. His OC in title is just a long-term assistant he really respects and wants to reward. Tom Brady is basically the Bucs' OC. He's running Arians' system on the field. It's basically the same as Peyton Manning late in his career.

Yep. He was a longtime player. He was a longtime NFL assistant coach. The man understands NFL football and how to deal with NFL players and NFL organizations. Matt Rhule is trying to replicate a mid-major college environment in the NFL with predictable end results.
