M&M: QBs we are not talking about much (Mond/Mills)
LinvilleGorge replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'll be ready for this conversation if QB doesn't work out in the 1st. Once we're talking about these guys, we're well into the "Oh fug, this is NOT going well" section of the QB shopping list. -
Just based on what Rhule and Tepper have said about what they're looking for in their next QB, I can't see them being high on Jones. They got an up close and personal look at a smart, accurate, but physically limited QB last season. They want a physical stud.
-
They have the #4 overall pick. They're gonna end up with a great prospect. I'd much rather they use that pick on a TE than a far more premium position.
-
Tannehill was WAY better in Miami than Darnold has been in NY though. Tannehill just looked like he was gonna be stuck in that middle of the road tier starter category and Miami wanted to try to do better than that. Tannehill ended up in a much better situation and took a significant step forward. A significant step forward for Darnold would be getting to that middle of the road tier.

Sure. It's the big four and the downfall of Kyle Shanahan.

Panthers signing corner Rashaan Melvin
LinvilleGorge replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
A corner good in run support... that's like immediately talking about a WR's blocking. A subtle way of hinting that he sucks at his primary job. -
Pitts going earlier than #8 is great for us. Should be at least one WR go too. Again, great for us.
-
Works for me though if I'm nitpicking I'd prefer to flip flop #3 and #4.
-
To wash away the stench of your poo posting today? I'd suggest Niagara Falls.

Top 5 Per Position - Choose two
LinvilleGorge replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
I like Fields and Lance both but I have serious questions about both. Just gonna have to trust the staffs evaluations on them. Hell, I'd say that about Wilson too for that matter. So much of prospect evaluations - particularly at QB - come down to the interviews, both with the prospects and their coaches, etc -

I would prefer the good ones. -

My preference would be QB in the 1st, OL in the 2nd. -
I said when we released him I'd be fine with it. The base honestly needs to be close to vet min though. Load it with plenty of incentives.
-
Well, no poo. If they actually want to trade him they'll have to take less than a 1st because I can't see anyone giving up a 1st.

Seems like a lot of the best OTs over the past 20 years or so fit this mold. They lack the ideal measurables and everyone wants to try to convert them to OG. Northwestern isn't a powerhouse school but they play in the Big Ten so he was routinely facing too college competition. There should be no shortage of film of him facing future NFL pass rushers.

It would be awesome if Trask was able to become a legit starting NFL QB. I just really don't think that's gonna happen.
-
Not a big deal. He wasn't very good. I wonder if we even made an offer?
-
QB or trade down
-
I'll happily offer them if that happens.
-
Wildly inconsistent passer. I was intrigued early in the year so I started watching. Gonna be a no from me unless we're talking 4th round.
-
Yeah, I just can't see moving off #3 if you liked the QBs available and weren't sold on Tua. If they pulled off that trade and still get the QB they liked... well, damn. They just won the draft.
-
Ah yeah, forgot that the Eagles had already traded back. Miami? I don't see it but crazier things have happened.
