  1. This. I don't hate Mac Jones. I just hate any thought of Mac Jones in the three quarters of the 1st round. He just has way too many physical question marks. I think he's probably an NFL backup. Honestly, I kinda doubt we're interested. Rhule has talked a lot about guys who can make all the throws, etc. Jones is going to be a limited NFL thrower and I don't think we want that.
  2. LOL! It's not like underthrows typically make highlight reels my man. Just go watch a Bama game. They're there. You asked for an example. I googled "Devonta Smith deep" and clicked on the third link on Google because it was under a minute. Then came the whataboutisms.
  3. Brady's arm at 40+ is still stronger than Mac Jones' at 22. Brady doesn't ha e a great arm like a Favre or Mahomes or aRodgers or prime Cam, but his arm was always decent to good.
  4. This is a typical Jones deep ball. Recover is wide open and leaving down the field. Has to slow down and track back inside to get a ball underthrown and missed wide. Only complete because the guy was wide open.
  5. All those times wide open deep receivers have a to slow to a near stop to wait on the ball to get there. I mean, just watch a Bama game. It happens every game.
  6. Yes. Burrow's arm is better. Honestly I didn't read the rest.
  7. His arm is average for a P5 D1 QB. It's definitely below average at the NFL level. Don't get triggered, but it's probably on par with Teddy's
  8. Stop. His arm is absolutely not as strong as Burrow's and "running" also means throwing on the move - something Burrow does very well and Jones doesn't. Jones has shown he can throw to wide open elite targets who are head and shoulders better than the opposing defenders behind an elite OL that is also head and shoulders better than the opposing defenders. Good luck replicating that at the NFL level. When plays broke down at LSU, Burrow still made positive things happen. If the first read wasn't wide open at Alabama (a true rarity) the play was generally a dud.
  9. I don't expect us to target marquee names, but I do expect at least one OL starter and one secondary starter to be signed. And I mean legit starters, not some bum we shoehorn into a starting role because we hope he's better than what we currently have.
  10. I'm a football nerd so I'm always down for this type of stuff. It makes sense too because everyone constantly needs OL.
  11. You can't possibly watch Burrow play at LSU in 2019 and try to compare Mac Jones in 2020 to him as an NFL prospect. The stats may match up well, but there's a massive gulf between the two in terms of physical traits.
  12. At some point in his third season Young will likely catch up to Chinn's tackle numbers as a rookie.
  13. Yeah, I definitely understand why we opted for Turner > Norwell. Sucks Trai got fat and lazy and it sucks for the Jags that they overpaid for an average talent who works his ass off and played way over his head for a brief period on an elite IOL. Yeah, our OTs were trash, but Norwell/Kalil/Turner was a GREAT IOL. I'd still be interested in bringing Norwell back. He's a good OG. He's just not the elite OG the Jags paid him to be.
  14. History says he'll be about the same. He just doesn't have the guts. He's a backup QB. He plays not to lose. That's the mentality you want in a backup.
  15. Yeah, I wouldn't hope too hard. Carr's worst year would be Teddy's best. Carr is just a lot better.
  16. He did. But it was all about that offensive system. It was painfully dumbed down and simplified. My concern with Herbert was that may have been due to his abilities or perceived abilities by the staff. Turns out, that's just their offense and now their starting QB is transferring. Probably because he doesn't want to keep running a HS offense and wants to show the NFL he can do more while also preparing himself to actually do more.
  17. It's less about how the looked in college and more about how the traits and skills transfer to the NFL. When Fields has struggled in the games I've watched, it's when he has to come off of his first read. That's gonna be a problem in the NFL. If he can't develop the ability to go through a progression he's not a starting NFL QB. It's not necessarily a crushing indictment though. Herbert was the same story at Oregon.
  18. I honestly think Wilson is every bit the long shot than Watson, hell maybe even longer to be honest. I think the Jets are taking him.
  19. Hell, I'd be for signing him back if he was still the guy we drafted. At his best he was among the best guards in the league. Then he got paid and the waistline and body fat percentage grew with the paycheck.
  20. Seemed like he got fat and lazy after he got paid.
  21. Yep. Honestly, with our weapons in our system I think he'd be top 10 possibly flirting with top 5.
  22. Tepper got gamed IMO. He probably pushed Ron for significant changes and got sold on this BS instead of firing Ron like he should've.
  23. Yeah... I don't know about that. I've been pretty vocal that if Gruden dumbly decides to move on from Carr we should be all over that, but he's nowhere close to Russell Wilson IMO and I despise RW. I haven't seen anything from Carr to indicate that he's capable of MVP caliber play but I do think he's capable of consistent top 10 QB play in the right system and that's good enough IMO.
