The backup QB coming in and looking better than Beck probably has something to do with it. I mean, most people watching UGA have been wondering for awhile why the hell this guy hasn't been yanked yet. Not exactly the same situation as FSU last year when FSU's backup looked atrocious in a win against Louisville on the ACC championship game. When he went 8/21 their playoff hopes died. UGA's backup went 12/16.

DJ showed typical future draft pick college progression. Talented newcomer to solid contributor to star over the course of three years and was 21 at the time of the draft. Roughly half his college stats came his junior year which was his last in college. Legette was basically a complete no show who would've gone undrafted had he not had the special exemption of a fifth college season due to COVID and was 23 at the time of the draft. About 75% of his yardage came in his super senior year.

Risk/reward. When it's an older prospect who is still considered raw that's a serious red flag. When it's a young guy with off the charts physical ability that you seem highly coachable then it's tempting. A lot of raw prospects get drafted in the mid-late rounds. I mean, pretty much all of those guys are either going to be raw or have serious concerns on whether or not their college success can translate to the NFL.

Makes me wonder if they've seen enough of Penix in practice to come to the conclusion that he sucks too and playing him will just give the critics even more ammo. LOL
