Everything is a wrap on our deal. Closing on Monday at 2pm.

We're probably in this same spot next year if we don't, so if the draft board falls that there's a QB there we would've been interested in before trading for Darnold then we should still draft him. These reclamation projects rarely work out. If it does, then we can move the newly drafted QB.

If we were trying to trade for him I have to think we'll be interested in him as a FA.

That's what makes home a good backup. He's not going to go out there and lose the game. He can hold the fort down, but he's not going to lead the cavalry. He's a great backup for a team that has an entrenched starter.

I was wrong about Herbert. CMC is the best slot WR in the NFL. That's the thing, when you're actually willing to voice an opinion sometimes you're going to be wrong. When you're a homer glasses wearing sheep you just have a better excuse for your even higher percentage of being wrong.

I guess I could be delusional like a good chunk of our fanbase and act like this organization has historically made good decisions that worked out well. Meanwhile, we're probably lining up our fourth consecutive losing season.

He probably sees a chance to look like a hero if Darnold is even decent. There's no downside for him here. If Darnold sucks, he was already a bust. If he looks good, then Ryan fixed him. All reward no risk for Ryan here.

Yeah, the arm length isn't ideal but it feels like all these 1st round OT busts of the last 20 years or so are all these 6'5" 35"+ arm guys that everyone is willing to look past all their glaring issues.

Not necessarily on the hot seat but probably down to his last swing at the QB position.

How many teams that think they have the answer at QB tank? I'm just not optimistic about a guy when there's nothing about his play we can point to for hope and just have to hang onto the fact that he's young and has some physical talent.

Young is a good example. It's not promising that we have to go back 35 years for a comp. That's the type of long shot we're taking though.

Give me a comp for a guy who has looked a bad through three years as Darnold who ended up working out. I'm not saying it's never happened, but I sure can't think of one off the top of my head.

Yep. Seems like we panicked before there was a need to panic. You're still holding the #8 overall pick and I don't think Darnold was getting moved anywhere else anytime soon. Not for what we gave up anyway.
