  1. I thought the basis of your reasoning was that the Panthers screwed over his idol Cam Newton? That seems to be thoroughly debunked at this point. I mean, he probably still doesn't end up here because the Jets and Dolphins are both in a far better situation to trade for him but your reasoning seems to be completely out the window at this point.
  2. I'd argue that Rosen had more talent, he was just an entitled brat. Tua seems like a great dude who may have been ruined by a devastating injury.
  3. Understand the concept of a sunk cost. With the new rookie salary scale, you're no longer hamstringing yourself with an outrageous contract on a top pick. I'm sure the Cardinals don't regret for a moment bailing on the previous year's #10 overall pick in Josh Rosen to take Kyler Murray #1 the following year.
  4. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if there wasn't some wildly differing opinions within the Dolphins' organization on what they should do with Tua. I could definitely see reason for a contingent of folks who want to keep and develop Tua and I could definitely see reason for a contingent of folks ready to cut bait and move on.
  5. I still hope we can get Moton signed long-term this off-season. Applying the franchise tag doesn't at all mean that won't happen.
  6. This. What I'm hoping to get out of this is for Wilson to go to the Jets or Dolphins and take one of them out of the Watson race. Let the other one fall in love with Zach Wilson and Watson is OURS!!! *evil laugh* Yeah, it's probably a pipedream but whatever. Don't spoil my fun.
  7. I doubt it. They would almost certainly get that or equivalent value.
  8. Turning the page on Bridgewater definitely wouldn't be a step backward.
  9. Yeah, honestly this isn't great news for us. I mean, it's completely expected since Miami was a pretty good team with shoddy QB play last year and NY is reportedly Watson's preferred destination, but both of those teams have far better trade bait to offer than we do.
  10. For some reason we thought he could be more than he's shown throughout his career. Everyone talks about his stint with the Saints last year but minus that 4 TD game against the Bucs' worst in the league pass D he pretty much looked like he's always looked.
  11. Nothing. I'm just saying they have Tua to offer and they have the #3 overall pick guaranteeing at worst the 3rd QB off the board this year. They simply have more and better options to offer than we do.
  12. If we don't get a QB this off-season it's Howell or bust next year.
  13. Wilson alone doesn't make us a contender. We'd still need to build an OL and a secondary. By the time we do that Wilson could be on the decline.
  14. I can't do that for a 32 year old. Sure, some QBs play very well into their late 30s and a rare few play well into their early 40s, but eh...
  15. It seems like such a bad idea to cancel the Combine. Honestly, the better idea IMO would've been to have the Combine and cancel the pro days. Now you're going to have coaches, scouts, and GMs flying all over the place to evaluate prospects instead of heading to one location where the NFL could've out everyone in a bubble and controlled the situation far better.
  16. I think Minshew can "win" here in terms of competing for winning seasons and playoff berths I'm just not at all sold that we could accomplish much more than that with him at QB unless we build one helluva dominant D.
  17. Tepper was making non-committal comments regarding Cam from the moment he bought the team.
  18. This. I don't care about compensation because I just want out of the contract and trading him is better than cutting him in that regard.
  19. I don't know if it was any "intimidation", but it did seem like Tepper was already set in going a different direction at QB the moment he bought the team. I think Tepper just wanted to put his stamp on the organization and as long as Cam was the face of the team it wasn't gonna be Tepper's team.
  20. I haven't made up my mind on Fields but if the organization thinks he's worth it then so be it. That move would almost certainly be putting their jobs on the line if it didn't work out so they'd have to be VERY sold. I'm in if they're in.
  21. The biggest knock on any trade package we can offer is that it doesn't include an answer at QB. They shouldn't want Teddy and one reason why we're likely so desperate to trade for Watson is that #8 looks to likely be on the outside looking in on the top QB prospects in this year's draft. The Jets and Dolphins not only have young QBs with potential upside to offer, they also have a pick that is guaranteed to be able to secure one of the top QB prospects in this year's draft if that's the direction the Texans want to go.
  22. Honestly, giving up 1st rounders concerns me a lot less than giving up guys like Burns, Brown, and/or Chinn who have shown to be very promising young players still on cheap rookie contracts.
