This is always the conundrum of camp. If this guy or this unit is looking good, is it because he's good or is it because the opposing unit is trash? It makes it even tougher when you're a historically bad team with few proven pieces. I mean, if a youngster is looking good against a proven player or unit that gives you a pretty good measuring stick. We just don't have many good measuring sticks.
-
And how has that worked out for us overall? A big part of our historic roster building issues has been way over spending both in draft capital and cap space on LBs and RBs while most of the rest of the league was focusing on QBs, WRs, CBs, and linemen.
-
Just accept LB is almost certainly going to be a weak spot for us this year. I'm just hoping that improved DL play with the additions and getting DB back will help make up for it. It was so bad last year because of the double whammy of being really weak at both DL and LB. If you're weak at both you're cooked. No way around it

You need bodies to get through camp. There's at least one of not two significant contributors at LB for us this coming season that are currently in other camps.

Madden rankings for whole team have been released

I was never a big online player but I completely quit when that stuff started up. Like yeah, this is gonna become pay to play very quickly. -

Bad for everyone except the company holding the exclusive rights. It's great for them. They don't care about producing a quality product, they care about extracting maximum profit. -

When you contractually eliminate all competition you get stagnation. EA has no market incentive to improve their product. They can't sell a ton of copies simply by being literally the only game in town. -
Well that's different...Staley as guest speaker.

I'm a cheapskate, don't spend much time playing video games anymore anyway, and only play off-line franchise mode so I'm always a year or two behind in Madden. I wait for the price to get slashed when the new ones come out and usually only buy every other edition. I mean yeah, the actual gameplay hasn't changed in years. You could pick up any of the last ten versions and not notice a huge difference in actual gameplay. -

Ah gotcha, you're talking about the online play, cards, and whatnot. Not at all familiar with that stuff. -

That looks like Madden thinks we're gonna be drafting in the top three next year. -
Pretty much this. We get a few Tweets and videos out of the practices actually open to the media and that's pretty much about it. I appreciate the posters who share that stuff but at the end of the day it's basically just enough to reinforce whatever you wanted to believe to begin with. Lol

Playoffs??!!! LOLOLOL This is Teppers' Panthers. This IS the closest thing we have to the playoffs. The games haven't started yet so we aren't piling up losses. I hope this year is different but a hallmark of the Tepper era has been talking draft by Halloween.

In short, we'll be fuged for a few more years unless we fall backasswards into a good non-1st round rookie QB or another Delhomme out of free agency. That's why I want to hang onto those 1sts like they're gold. If Bryce isn't the guy they're gonna be high ones.
-
And what if Bryce regresses or stalls at super mid? I know everyone is excited about him playing better after the benching but the reality is that he was still very mid-level it's just that was a massive improvement from the dumpster fire he had been. I just can't rationalize trading away future 1sts before the QB issue is definitively answered.
-
Yeah, Parsons was in the Horn draft. Would I trade Horn and a 3rd for Parsons? Hell, I'd carry Jaycee Horn from Charlotte to Dallas piggyback style for that deal. LOL The concern with Parsons' draft projection was whether he was an off the ball LB or an edge rusher or was he a tweener? I was leery projecting him as an edge but it obviously worked out.
-
Would I trade DB and a 3rd for Parsons? Hell yeah. Is Parsons getting traded? Highly unlikely.

Football is here! Chargers vs. Lions

Josh Allen is the biggest positive shocker I can recall. I've never seen anyone develop as much as he has as a passer. Dude couldn't hit the broadside of a harn at Wyoming. -
Can't recall anyone who has carried this much hype for so long based on name alone. Not being able to supplant Ewers is a big red flag IMO. Ewers was a good college QB, but I would expect a future #1 overall pick to send him to the bench, especially as a sophomore. Maybe not as a freshman but after a year to get his feet wet at the college level if he's anywhere near his hype level then not playing him over Ewers last year was a huge mistake.
-
I'm a firm hell no on trading any future 1sts until we're absolutely certain Bryce is the long-term answer. I don't see how anyone could be certain of that as of now.
-
I'd be surprised if teams weren't compiling everything they possibly could against opponents, especially early season opponents. Get a few games deep into the season and no one cares anymore but games one and two? Wouldn't surprise me a bit of teams weren't trying to find TC footage of those opponents

That's fine if you don't like college football. Cool. But you're being intellectually dishonest as hell here. That's my whole point. You wanted to go on a rant against college football so you're going to attribute all the things you want to rant about to me whether I've actually said them or not. Bizarre behavior but hey whatever -

It wasn't "scrub time". That was my point. I think it may have been the only nationally televised game he played. They won 28-20. It was a competitive game. Lance completed 6 of 10 passes for 72 yards and had 30 carries for 181 yards. Hence why I was confused how this guy was being out forward as a top NFL QB prospect. Like what I just watched is not going to translate to the NFL, hence the Temu The Golden Calf of Bristol comment. You're just over and over trying to show horn on arguments and stances that haven't actually been out forward. -

What about that game was "scrub time"? You just seem hell-bent to just go on rants about your evidently hatred of college football and attribute the things you would like to rant about to me. That's all. It's weird.
