It's not overreacting. It would be a signal of lack of self awareness about the talent on this team. There is not a single reason for optimism with this team until there is clear sign that they have what it takes to turn this failing franchise around. Every major decision that has been made for the past half decade has been wrong. The Ringmaster of those decisions is still calling to tune with the help of his new lacky. Who by the way got to sit in on the intviews of those who were competing with him for his current job. Now he and his old friends from Seattle are hired to build a powerhouse to takeover the NFC for a decade or two. This move would seem counter productive to that goal and just signal more of the same just sling poo at the wall and see what sticks and win now mode. All in an attempt to avoid having build a team through the draft and take their lumps. But they suck at drafting so now you see the predicament they have gotten themselves into. This team is FUBAR. I will need more than what I've seen from the Ringmaster to think this team has a single chance in hell of improving this season.

It's about time they stop rewarding mediocre players for mediocre effort. Screw the moral in the building. Those guys have been one of the worst, and now the worst team the in the league. Its not all on the coaches as to why they suck. If they don't like it it gtfo. We've had too much of that attitude in the building for too long.

Burns is not a player they should throw that kind of money at. Especially with the shape this roster is in. There's only one player on this team that has earned a spot here and the team has apparently forgotten he's even here. The idea of signing any player from a team that has been as bad as the Panthers have been over past half decade is nonsensical to me. Why on earth would you think continuing that strategy is somehow going to pay off? I must be talking to crazy people.

The Panthers will screw this up and get stuck with him. 27 mil per was way too much for what he brings. That's ridiculous. If Dan signs Burns he's part of the problem and not the solution.

We've been trying to win now our entire existence. How's that worked out? This team needs rebuilt from the ground up. Until they commit to that they will always be a bad team with bad leadership. They don't have to try to tank, they earn the label of the worst team in the nfl. One player will not change that. I suggest that if you cannot stomach crappy football you just do not watch the Panthers. Embrace the suck because it's not changing anytime soon.

Interesting fact noone cares about. I live near the guy who was the actor in Deliverance who uttered the famous line "you got a perty mouth". He passed away recently however. Was famous in these here parts and was as friendly a person as you could ever meet. I would see I'm in the grocery store now and then and he would be on one of those scooters that old people ride getting groceries. He had a pet squirrel he kept with him that would ride on his shoulders as he shopped. The kids always wanted to touch the squirrel for some reason. He would dress the part wherever he went and would sign his autograph for anyone who remembered him from the movie. Nice man who just got lucky when Hollywood rolled into town.

A better offensive system can help. But he does have to step up dramatically as well. You have to start drafting these now and often. The skill position players are pointless if you do not improve this OL. It like putting expensive wheels on a POS automobile.

You cannot say the defense is on the field too much because of the crappy offense and claim the defense doesn't get enough opportunities to make plays. You want to force them to pass so you can tee off? Stop them from running on you. You cannot stop the run? Then stop whining and gtfo.

When you have to dig that hard to find a positive for keeping a player you've already lost. He benefits from whatever pressure Derek Brown can create up the middle. Except Derek hardly ever comes off the field. Burns gets to rest his ass on the sidelines every other play. In the meantime Brown is out there making tackles because everyone else seems to be adverse to doing.
