Coaching Interview Thread IV: A New Hope
Jon Snow replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
If I recall I was indifferent to it much like I am with this one and others in the past. It is what it is. -

I think that is mainly speculation based on the series of events that has played out. I doubt anyone really knows beyond the interview committee and the candidate or candidates. -

Civil Engineering. Highways, bridges, utilities, infrastructure projects and a host of other things related to the field. Does that fit your criteria for an engineer? I really don't care to be honest.
-
It can be. But if you are able to get them to listen to you that's half the battle. The other half is getting them to pay you on time.
-
As a fellow tenured engineer yes, all of the above. There is a point at which you get tired of teaching some else how to do their job. There's a point where you tell yourself that these young, know-it-all, wet behind the ears, fresh out of college, twits are going to have to learn the hard way just like you did. Luckily for me my staff has already gone through their growing pains and are running on autopilot. My stress is now solely from clients.
-
No worries. I was clarifying for those that didn't have a clue what we were talking about.
-
No, but I'm very familiar with the policies. I get reminders through training about every 3 months. We take it very seriously, as we should. It's made a tremendous difference in the production and diversity of thought processes in the staff.

There's a lot of truth in what you said. I've kinda leaned this way after seeing the full list of candidates they interviewed. But I did not sit in in the interviews so I didn't know what to expect when it's all said and done. I just watch the games and hope they win. That's the total of my investment in this team.

I would gladly take Purdy off their hands. Lance is a bust for what they gave for him. I would take Purdy over him and never look back.
-
I would keep that to myself if I were her. But that doesn't surprise me from a company like Walmart.

No, I'm saying you cannot use a candidates age as a determining factor unless it is a legitimate reason. You not wanting an older coach is not a legitimate reason. That candidate could sue your ass for discrimination based on that alone, and will win. Its a violation of federal law. I take it you've not been involved in hiring people or you would know this already.
-
If those "people" are that biased against hiring someone due to their age I presume they've never been in a position to hire folks, nor should they be. Ageism is one of the "isms" you are forbidden to use to judge a candidate. It's no different than treating someone differently due to race, gender or a laundry list of other reasons. Better get some unconscious bias training for yourself if you think like that.

Rhule says he regrets throwing Cam under the bus

Don't post anything about that man in here ever again. You should be flogged for even typing that turds name. -

How can you say that without sitting in on the interview?

That's what I remember. I guess it didn't go so well.
-
He has 250 million reasons not to give a flying fug.
-
He got a video conference interview last week didn't he? I could have sworn I read that somewhere.
-
I think it means the interview did not go well so they decided he wasn't worth waiting for to give a second interview.
-
It's so hard to take these 'mocks" seriously, especially this early. Let it come to you.

I've seen a ton of rankings and damn near every single one of them only having 2 qb's go before our pick at 9. The Panthers will get another rookie qb in this upcoming draft. I just don't see the panic to trade up for any of them to be honest.

I always thought they should have gone after Reich when we had the opportunity to fire Ron and get him years ago. I always thought he would be a great HC. Then the Colts signed him and I knew he was fugged going there. He still was able to produce despite his situation. If it's him that they hire I think they chose wisely. In any case...
