They chose poorly.

That's the windbags in the media chumming for clicks. Agents are trying to make a commission pumping up their players through the media mouth breathers also. Pay that poo no mind. If a team drafts that kid from the hype around him then they are as dumb as the Panthers.

A smart coach would do that. But building a great oline takes time. A solid team would be drafting oline in every draft to keep the oline deep and prevent having to shell out large contracts to aging vets. A smart team would be taking a qb in every draft that is deep in qbs even with an established qb. Again, to hedge yourself against injuries or contract stalemates. A smart team would not throw second contracts at non-productive players that are a dime a dozen. I could go on and on about what could have and should have been done to change things. But I'm losing interest in helping Rhule figure this poo out.

Unfortunately new coaches are rarely afforded that luxury. They will most likely get to pick a new qb in the draft because the team he was hired to sucked. But he better choose wisely or he will be looking for a job after year 2.

I wouldn't be so sure. Rhule is running out of options here. The Panthers are not the only team desperate for a qb either.

To add to this, I wish they could somehow trade a player to either Jacksonville or Detroit for their 1st round pick for next season. That way we would have a pick much closer to the 1st overall. Makes it cheaper to move up if we are not there already. Hedge our bets so to speak.

I can't say that have ever used the word boy in any context. I say son a lot with anyone younger the myself. But that's only with men I know. I've said "Boy that was hot" if my mother is in the room. Otherwise it's usually the F word.

Both. Talent can only get a qb so far in this league. It takes a well built and coached team to maximize that talent.

So far I have not seen one I would take higher than the 2nd round. These kids need a lot of work.

Honestly could it be any worse if you add any of these kids to the group?

They are almost forced to go QB. Especially of they can sign a LT in FA. If that happens I would say there's a 90% chance it's a qb. If they trade out of the top 10 it could be both if there's any of either left worth a roster spot.

I hope that's the case. But I'm not betting the farm on it.

It's looking that way. Honestly does Rhule have any options left? It's looking like he's not going to get a vet qb to bail him out so he's left with the draft. He may buy himself another year with a rookie draft pick.

I'm sure they've asked him what he's willing to take to come un for another year if they can't get someone else. Put yourself in his shoes, would you do it? You would be benched the first time you had a bad game for Darnold. Then you would get to start after Darnold has a bad game. Round and round you go for a full year before you are right back where you are now. Sound enticing to you?

See if they will give us a 2nd for him right now. But he's the only legit qb on the team, as sad as that is.

Yeah whoever set that up didn't do the kid any favors. To me it actually hurt his stock.
