  1. I am guessing that he signs for 4 years, $8.4m with $6m guaranteed. I do not see Morgan giving in easily, and these players are losing leverage. I am a Scourton fan and I see him as a real sleeper pick who will be a better pro than college player. They may need to address the rookie salary scale to include caps on guaranteed money--
  2. I think AT is going to be a rotational slot and not much more. On the outside, we have XL and TMac and Coker could play multiple roles (primarily a slot in 2024). With Renfrow likely to stick and Horn destined to be a ST/Slot, it seems that the overload at the slot position COULD push Coker into X and Z responsibilities--we shall see. But with Coker, Renfrow, and Horn, slot is pretty crowded, imo
  3. Kurt Warner....Jake Delhomme, Jay Feely, Matt Bryant, and Oronde Gadsden,Anthony Armstrong, Lincoln Coleman, Rashied Davis, David Patten, Rob Bironas, Antonio Chatman, Mike Vanderjagt, Paul Justin It happens.
  4. I figured i was not seeing the big picture--when I first started following the Canes a few years ago, I thought his brand name status meant that he was the superstar and I think I always expected him to perform at that elite level--I did not know he was a half point player--he sure (to me) is quiet about it.
  5. offseason fluff to keep reporters employed. However, it does reflect the mindset that the Panthers are the NFL's farm team.
  6. That is another thing--Staal (to me) seems like a liability. I figured hockey experts would blast me for saying it, but when I heard the name, I expected more. I realize that he is old and probably serves as a leader and mentor--and he is usually good at face offs, but I struggle to see him as an asset--maybe I need to learn the game better.
  7. He called XL a second-round pick. Sloppy. In fairness, we have a #1 WR from 2024 that underperformed and dropped passes in key situations that, ironically, allowed the Panthers to have a higher draft pick to select his replacement as the #1 WR. The New #1 WR is unproven and a rookie. AT is aging, Renfrow is coming off a serious illness that caused him to be inactive for a season or two, Coker is an undrafted overachiever with a limited ceiling (I hate saying that--he could become very good), Horn is a sixth rounder with high expectations--but I honestly think they are all flying under the radar. Lazy journalism. good 2024 teams at top, bad 2024 teams at bottom.
  8. very helpful. I read back in this thread where they might try Jarvis at C--I thought he and Aho had good chemistry, however. Nonetheless, he could expand his value there, and now we have a guy who can play jarvis' spot. Freddie is a pro, no doubt--and as little as I know about the inner workings of strategy and positions, I could tell Burns was burning us at times. I figured he'd retire and I was looking forward to it. FWIW, they have Jarvis listed as a C on the 2025-26 roster.
  9. The secret is if they can stay on the floor. If Ball ever decides to play 60 games, with Bridges, Miller, and potentially improved shooting from Sexton/Knueppel, etc. I see improvement. I personally like the Plumlee acquisition--he plays hard and is pretty durable--good depth, as you say. I also approve of the players they let go, in general. Not a huge fan, but want to be---if their season were not over by December.
  10. Question to the posters on this thread because you are knowledgeable--I love watching and pull for the Canes, but I never played so I don't have the understanding I had when I played football then watched it. Having said that, Do you think we are weak at Center? I see the team to be pretty strong on the wings, promising defense, and weak at Goalie. It would be ideal if the Canes had 1 more position to upgrade, not 2. I don't think you can count on Anderson to play a full season and he is 35. However, are we solid at Center in your view?
  11. There is one play that sold me-- it was around 2:38, I think. It was 4th and 1 and the QB telegraphed and threw the ball out wide to TMac. He had no blocking (the TE was very late) and four defenders collapsed on TMac behind the LOS. They seemed to know it was coming. He got hit behind the LOS and battled through several hits to get three yards. THAT play showed me his fire.
  12. Moton would have been a good pick and so would Travelle Wharton--it all depends on who else was selected that pick. Hangartner was a good one that I never considered. Montgomery is a great pick
  13. NO WAY!!! I did not cheat or read any posts and came up with the same 4.
  14. Have not opened this or read any other posts. OL: Ryan Kalil (59) DB: Josh Norman (143) DB: Captain Munnerlyn (216) DB: Mike Minter (56) It was hard finding the DBs....
  15. I saw it and was very impressed. XL will step up in the #2 role. He is perfect for that role. I am just so excited about our WR corps, I wake up in the middle of the night screaming, "Just throw the ball!!!" I had no idea my wife kept a bowling ball on her side of the bed for occasions such as that.
  16. The shoes. Brand new white shoes. I am sure that went through his mind...Save the shoes or the four wheeler. Forget the friend--you need smarter friends.
  17. The post says, "Didn't hesitate for a second .... " Yes he did. Did you see that he was wearing white shoes? I'd take it out of Mr. "I think my 4-wheeler is a jet ski"'s ass. It was probably XL's four-wheeler too.
  18. I think--don't quote me--that based on what the guys I knew said (20+ years ago) it was that way. I was shooting basketball with a guy who played LB for the Chiefs and he told that he could dunk. I said, "If you could dunk, you would do it and not tell me about it." He said, "If I broke an ankle, it would violate my contract." (paraphrasing). Not sure what would happen if they found out he was playing but did not injure himself. And your opinion does matter, dammit all to Hell!!!
  19. Interesting topic. I have had a few NFL friends and one told me that he could not work out or train unless the activities and facilities were approved. AI: In many NFL contracts, certain activities are restricted, and injuries sustained during those activities can lead to the voiding of contract guarantees or even the entire contract. These restrictions often include dangerous activities like skydiving, rock climbing, or even engaging in contact sports like boxing. Additionally, injuries sustained while working out at non-team facilities or during personal recreational activities may be classified as "non-football injuries," potentially impacting the player's compensation. Having said that, I question the reason the person filming this was not helping. Secondly, the decision to put it on social media makes it seem a bit prearranged. I do not think this would violate his contract, but I do think it is a bit stupid on his part in that he could be injured.
  20. You mean like the sandwich or Superman?
  21. You don't put the spoiler alert at the end, L-Town. Sheez. I will say that his belief in undersized NTs seems to be behind us. We got some beef at NT.
  22. I think that Cam rubbed some refs the wrong way, but I had forgotten this stuff. Should not matter. I remember being furious with Rivera. I personally think Rivera was the most overrated coach in Panther history--he had Cam, weapons, a great defense--and never had back-to-back winning seasons. As a Coordinator in San Diego with Norv Turner (I believe) I recall a season when they were #1 on D and #1 on Offense and still struggled to make the playoffs.
