Looking at Who Could Emerge as WR3 for Carolina
MHS831 replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers
Most people undervalued the significance of having Jordan Gross and Ryan Kalil at the two most important OL positions. -
Looking at Who Could Emerge as WR3 for Carolina
MHS831 replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers
Brown is not a great fit here. We shall see, but his brand of RG is starting to become a bit obsolete, with the zone blocking schemes. Maybe a goalline and special teams G, but I am not seeing the fit in the offense. Of course, I hope that I am wrong. It reminds me of the Duke Robinson pick, and that is not fair to Brown. -

About OT--Daley was not bad when he played. I know, injury history, but sometimes, it is just bad luck. I think he will win the LT job, but we have 3 who could reach the average level (Daley, Scott, Erving). I am not giving up on Christensen either, but I found Rhule's comments about him at RT to be disturbing. Was that for Moton negotiations or was he a depth pick? At 25, he needs to start now-can he beat out what we have at G now? Not seeing the spot for him at this time. -
Looking at Who Could Emerge as WR3 for Carolina

I agree about Marshall--I am fairly sure we were going OT and this guy with a late first round grade is sitting there. BPA. It seems there is some reason (every year) we just do not prioritize the OT position. That is not to say picking Marshall was the wrong thing to do- Maybe Darnold will be faster at reading the defense and getting rid of the ball. -
Looking at Who Could Emerge as WR3 for Carolina

My theory--- We want more :"Go" routes and QBs throw more than they did 15 years ago. I wonder how many WRs lose a step or two in the fourth quarter? we rotate DTs, and they don't run much. We rotate DEs--keeping them fresh. Why is there not more of a rotation for WRs? You keep them fresh and give the DBs a different look. I know there are some WR rotations, but normally, when we go to 4 WR sets. What if, for example, Marshall rotated with Anderson and Moore. The other Moore and Shi worked the slot. I mean, why would this be bad? Is it timing? Chemistry? If so, is that more important that fresh legs? Maybe I am wrong because they don't do this as much as one might think. But in a game, the WR might run the equivalent of 20-40 yard dashes in full gear, fighting DBs, etc. Is that 20th route as crisp as the first? Maybe that is because it is tough to keep more than 3 quality WRs on the roster---I dunno. -
Looking at Who Could Emerge as WR3 for Carolina

I am not convinced that the #3 has to be 1 person. -
The one on the right is the 3 technique. Her name is probably Edna.

Seriously, who cares? App State (about 25 years ago) had a male flag girl. You don't hear me talking about it.Much.

And there are rumors putting him at nickel-they tackle once in a while, and my impression of Jackson is "that ain't his bag."

Why not trade for Tyrell Crosby?
MHS831 replied to Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D.'s topic in Carolina Panthers
That is a good trade, if you ask me. I would give them Erving for him, if they need a 6th man. -
You never forget your first, according to my therapist.

What the hell is up with the Tom Cats? (Wrong thread, but damn). Igo will be taking pics of them in the rain and stuff. Brace yourselves!!

Gotta admit, that first dude made me gasp. Was not expecting that.

I think the line between why I joined the Huddle and this development has been blurred a bit. Regroup, men. (No--re-separate!)

OK St is known for the wide zone--

Looks like Micah let a few get through his hands (81)

He is a RT-$15-16 tops--but it does depend on the cap. Prolly why he got tagged and waited.

Projected Roster Changes (Upgrades???) on Offense from 202- to 2021
MHS831 replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers
I also think the injury label on Daley might be a bit overblown. He had an ankle and a concussion at different times, but the moved him to IR after the concussion and it seemed he was injured forever. IR is used for different reasons, and Daley is a decent OL. The battle we have going on at LT is great, but the LG situation is nice too. I think Elf and Christensen might slug it out for that spot, and I see Christensen winning. Elf could then slug it out with Paradis. RG? Miller has to be the favorite because he and Moton started jelling at the end of the season, but you could see Brown or even Erving there. Erving is a good fit for this wide zone scheme, by the way---and he could be the LT--who knows? Seriously--we have not had more potential at OL in years--if ever. Just depends on the chemistry. -
Projected Roster Changes (Upgrades???) on Offense from 202- to 2021
MHS831 replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers
I appreciate the effort and the share. I think our offense with CMC on the field upgrades every position, but I do not see the how LT can be a downgrade when we had so much salary on the bench. See, I look at it this way--if we can stay the same (talent) at a position and cut the salary by 50%, we are better at another position (in terms of salary). For example, if we can get something out of Daley at LT, and 15 games from him at his salary is better than 7 games of Okung at his salary, and we get the $$$ savings to sign a player like Arnold and and Moore. By the way, LG was our biggest problem last year. By far. -
At least we don't have Rosario Dawson anymore

Speaking of the guys who call Panther games: Steve Smith, Sr.
MHS831 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Smith is a goober-head of a person, but I think he will tell it like it is---and that is great for preseason. I liked Rucker, fwiw, but he was nice all the time. Smith is likely to be more candid. One thing that bothers me about some recent players who hit the booth: They tend to relate everything to their situations.
