  1. Lorentz took a shot the other night and he was a little dinged, now that I think about it. He may need a day off.
  2. Yeah, I'm watching BSO now and Abby just mentioned Stepan is playing today. Add some more weight and grit to the 4th line. Couple guys on this Kings roster who can make this a long day. Kopitar, Arvidsson (gives the Canes fits), Danault.
  3. I think Anderson is in for the long haul. He had 6 days off before the Anaheim game and with the every other day schedule, I think he's in thru the Washington game.
  4. Projected Lineup: Svech - Aho - Jarvis Teuvo - Vinny - Necas Nino - Jordie - Fast Martinook - KK - Lorentz The Thick Blue Line: Mr. Slavin - Bear Brady - Pesce Ian Cole - Tony D Healthy scratches: Derek Stepan & Brendan Smith
  5. TRACKING THE STORYLINES: Keep The Foot On The Gas: The Canes showed up in Vegas and handed the Golden Knights their first loss on home ice in over three weeks. Then they flew to Anaheim to snap the Ducks eight-game win streak. It's "all systems go" for the Metropolitan Division leaders right now, who are finding ways to win games against very good and very hot teams. The challenge for today will be to keep the same energy against the Kings. A Better Start: Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour said both Thursday post-game and Friday at media availability that he did not like his team's start against Anaheim, despite the win. He felt as if his team gave up too many chances, but gave his team credit by saying that they got better as the game went on. Look for the Canes to come out of the gate stronger this afternoon. Watch For The Bounce Back: Prior to dropping their two most recent contests to Washington and Winnipeg, the Kings had won seven in a row. They'll try and get back to their winning with an emphasis surely being on scoring after being shutout by the Capitals early this week. Doing It Big: The Hurricanes 13 wins in their first 15 games is the most in team history through that margin. They also currently have the highest points percentage of any NHL club (.867). Frederik Andersen's six wins away from PNC Arena pace the league and his 10 in total are tied for tops in the NHL.
  6. The Canes got physically pounded by Anaheim in the goal-less 2nd period, but they rebounded well in the 3rd when RBA put the Staal line out there on alternating shifts and they got very heavy with the Ducks and slowed them down. When Jarvis scored about halfway thru the 3rd, the Canes basically went into forecheck mode and stayed pretty physical throughout the remainder of the period. It worked to the point the Ducks couldn't get Gibson off the ice and gain a man-advantage until there was only 1:30 or so left in the game. Very well executed. I thought the way Anaheim was going, any mistake by the Canes would be capitalized on and we'd have overtime to deal with. But there weren't any real mistakes made in the 3rd, especially after Jarvis scored with a little over 10 minutes remaining.
  7. Huge win! Jarvis with the game winner, Anderson was huge! I wanted 8 points on this road trip...
  8. Getting out-physicalled, out-shot and out-hustled. Need some sandpaper and a couple breaks to win this one.
  9. Rebound control, Anderson. The Ducks may be the fastest team Carolina faces this season. Turnovers and getting back on D are critical.
  10. I have 2 Arturs Irbe, a Jeff O'Neill and an RBA (player) in my office.
  11. When asked about a game plan to counter Cam Newton at QB, Rivera gave his wry smile and said, "Cam Newton gives us the best chance to win." He used to say the same thing when he was head coach in Carolina and Cam was his QB, even after it was apparent Cam's arm was shot and couldn't throw a football 20 yards. (none of this actually happened, I just made it up to see the responses)
  12. And why not add Chris Berman from ESPN to do the halftime highlights in less than 3 minutes. Talk about a real sh!tshow- how does that guy even have a job?
  13. Guess I missed those posts... lemme go back and look again. Just what I thought, no angry people.
  14. Performance has nothing to do with the monetary value of the team. Look, the Dallas Cowboys are ranked as the world's most valuable pro sports franchise at $5.7B. They won the Super Bowl in 1995 and since then have made 10 playoff appearances, losing all 10 either in the wild card or divisional round. In other words, they haven't done sh!t since 1995, yet look where they are. In 2018 Tepper paid $2.275B for the Panthers. If he retained 51%, he still controls $1.3B. In May 2021, Forbes estimated the value of the franchise at $2.55B with a 5-year increase in value of 63%. Even if inflation were to grip the nation, it has never slowed the growth of professional sports. Why? Because when it gets too expensive to go out, people turn on their TVs. So, yes. Based on the fact professional sports are essentially "economy proof" and there's a proven history of growth (63% over 5 years = 12.6% per year average). I'll take a 13% annual ROI without trying all day long. Of course, this would have to be a real stock offering, not the bullsh!t scam the Packers are succeeding at.
  15. You can have the best of both worlds by rescuing a pure bred. There are plenty of breed specific rescue organizations out there. This. There are books written about how various breeds of dogs looked before the show dog circuit encouraged in-breeding and cosmetic breeding and the AKC doesn't help matters by establishing appearance standards. The respiratory and breathing issues English Bulldogs and American Boxers, for example, endure is in some part due to breeding to achieve a certain aesthetic. Boxers used to have a snout; English bulldogs, as recently as 100 years ago, weren't so flat faced they could hardly breath. Any way, to each his own. All of my dogs over the past 30 years have been rescues. We've also fostered many along the way, including this most recent little girl on the left: She's now with her new school teacher Mom in Charlotte and she's been named Mocha. They guy on the right is Cooper, our 8-month old rescue. He's already 65lbs and we picked up a DNA test yesterday to figure out what he is.
  16. And, that's what has been overlooked for the better part of 8 pages of this thread. The penalty was for taking his helmet off, not for what he said.
  17. The snappy repartee, the sharp-wits, you're really on your game, huh? "Weirdo?" Really, that's still a thing? GFY.
  18. You missed the fugging point, child. Time for graham crackers and milk, now, so please go see Mommy.
  19. Good work. Well thought out response and opinion.
  20. Real millennial naivete not understanding sarcasm.
  21. Wow... Panther fans have now devolved into age-grouping racism amongst themselves. And you have a problem with boomers?
  22. Fugging millennials on this board.... Little whippersnappers should get a switch taken to their hind-ends.
