  1. Neither of these is even a remote possibility in the underserved communities of color.
  2. The hooking call in OT was horrible and I thought it would mean a loss. The guys are probably whipped after 6 periods, 2 OTs and a shootout in less than 24 hours.
  3. McCormick is probably out for a long time. A pretty obvious and blatant boarding call missed by the refs- who were not very good last night.
  4. What do you mean when you say, "... if it's a health concern?" You don't think it's a health concern? Tell that to the people who are deciding who gets the shot and when. I said this is my first post on the subject- teachers/administrators/staff/operational personnel should have been placed in the first groups for vaccines. However, they weren't and they can't be held accountable for someone else's mistake. Again, stop blaming the education system and start understanding the time for blame is over, gone, past and too late. 433,000 dead in this country as of this morning and you're still trying to blame people and telling people to go back to work. It's a fugging pandemic- it's a health care crisis.
  5. Great win. Was out and about and couldn't tune in until the start of the 2nd, but I had a good feeling after seeing what they did for 20 minutes. They had some issues in the 3rd and Mrazek really showed up when TB started going to the net. The whole OT was Canes- might have been one of the best OTs they played in years. I have my opinions about Staal, but that line change and pass was a thing of beauty.
  6. Which is why I finished my post with this statement: "It's not as simple as handing out laptops and showing kids how to log in. I could go on for a couple pages on that subject alone." And the NY Times op-ed is not indicative of anything but the NY system and, therefore, cannot and should not be applied to a thread discussing the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system. It's nothing more than an attempt to blame the effect of the pandemic on organized labor, which is childish, at best, regardless of the locale. The school system is not the cause, it's the effect of the pandemic. As I said before, it's no different than the restaurant industry, travel and tourism, brick & mortar retail. Just like those industries, the education system has also fallen prey to the pandemic. Stop trying to put this on the teachers, school districts and the like and start acting like this is a real world health care crisis.
  7. No. The Panthers could pull a Mike Ditka and offer their entire draft for him like New Orleans did for Ricky Williams and if the Texans don't want to consider the offer, they don't have to. You think Indianapolis, with all their cap space and need for a QB, is going to be considered if they came to the table with an offer? Hell no, the Texans don't want to get beat by Watson twice a year for the next decade, so they won't even consider a deal with the Colts, no matter what they offer.
  8. You have to look at cap space, too. And let's not forget New England has a poo-ton of cap room, need a QB and so does Indianapolis. And nobody seems to be thinking about them.
  9. He has to approve the team. (we may be saying the same thing here...) He has no say-so over the terms. The Texans will decide who they negotiate with. And, as Watson himself has said, the Jets may be a good place for him. But the Texans may decide they won't listen to any offers from the Jets just to be sure Watson doesn't get what he wants.
  10. Yeah, I'm a Directv guy and I don't want to miss games.
  11. Watson may have a no-trade clause, but that doesn't have any bearing on the terms- only the team. Carolina might offer up something, but the Texans don't even have to consider it. And, on the other hand, the Texans stand a pretty good chance of being on the receiving end of a bidding war when it comes to Miami and the Jets.
  12. To be fair, he hasn't had a QB with an arm yet, either. Cam was hurt and TB.... well... it's TB.
  13. On the other hand, it's what's turned the NBA into a shitshow of haves and have-nots. Parity? Bwahhhh!
  14. Tepper was the guy who ordered the GM and head coach to get Cam off the field because he was hurt and couldn't throw the ball. If anything, Cam might actually owe him some thanks for not allowing him to get permanently injured.
  15. This all day. And, to be quite honest, why aren't educators considered "essential employees" and why weren't they part of the first groups to be vaccinated? "Teachers only work 9 months out of the year, anyway...." (bullshit) Here's what's not being said: "I'm tired of my kid being home and I have to adjust my schedule. Put 'em back in school so I can get on with my life." "I can't afford day care and I depend on the school for that." "It's not my job to teach my kids or make sure they're getting their studies done." As someone who experienced COVID, I can unequivocally state that if I had a kid, they would not be in school until I decided it was safe, I don't care if he/she would have to repeat if there was no remote learning option. The other elephant in the room not many want to discuss is the lack of infrastructure and resources within the under-served communities to have a successful remote learning experience. It's not as simple as handing out laptops and showing kids how to log in. I could go on for a couple pages on that subject alone.
  16. I maintain a limited inventory of N95s on the job, but we locked those up. We keep them for use as part of the job and if we wore them daily, I don't know I'd be able to get any when we need them for the true reason they were purchased. We're using both cloth and a blue surgical style made for people working in the electronics manufacturing industry. Some of my people are wearing the cloth over the surgical.
  17. How much do you think the situation you're dealing with varies from one county to another, given each has their own BOE, and the BOE has their own agenda?
  18. And, for being such a good sport, I'll let you continue to put the NFL logo at midfield...
  19. The failure is the result of a pandemic. The failure is not due to remote learning, it's due to the pandemic. That's like saying the restaurant industry is a failure, the movie theater business, travel & tourism....
  20. Man, I'm puckering just looking at that thing. Look at it this way- less ass means not a lot for the boss to chew on. I'll be thinking about you- be well and be safe.
  21. Well, back then you could play defense and you'd actually have to commit an offense deemed against the rules to get a flag. Pass interference was really pass interference; roughing the passer meant you really clocked someone and unnecessary roughness was usually reserved for an act of assault. And refs weren't interested in altering the outcome of the game.
  22. I will preface this by saying I don't like Mark Scheifele as the captain of an NHL hockey team. I think he sets a terrible example as a leader and I tend to believe that he and Laine probably couldn't co-exist given their polar opposite personalities. Don't get me wrong, I'd have Scheifele on my team for a 2-year year deal, but he wouldn't be a captain if I could help it. Anyone remember this? What the video misses is Scheifele cross-checking Pesce into the middle of the ice, Mrazek then trips Scheifele, and Pesce goes after him. I was at this game and remember Scheifele taking a couple cheap shots once the Canes got out to a lead.
  23. 2 RWs, 1 LW, 1 C and 1 D. They're basically going to play with either 3 solid, but pieced together lines or 4 pieced together lines and plug in the taxi guys along all 4. Either way, the top 2 lines are going to stack up some ice time.
  24. Fortunately, they're playing baseball series schedule so they're not traveling every off day.
