  1. Always a class act. https://apnews.com/article/mlb-baseball-atlanta-braves-hank-aaron-coronavirus-pandemic-0fa32aff826d18bbeb9efedd42cd81a2?utm_source=PushNotification ATLANTA (AP) — Hank Aaron, who endured racist threats with stoic dignity during his pursuit of Babe Ruth but went on to break the career home run record in the pre-steroids era, died early Friday. He was 86 The Atlanta Braves said Aaron died peacefully in his sleep. No cause of death was given. Aaron made his last public appearance less than two weeks ago when he received the COVID-19 vaccine. “Hammerin’ Hank” set a wide array of career hitting records during a 23-year career spent mostly with the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves, including RBIs, extra-base hits and total bases. But the Hall of Famer will be remembered for one swing above all others, the one that made him baseball’s home-run king. It was a title he would hold for more than 33 years, a period in which the Hammer slowly but surely claimed his rightful place as one of America’s most iconic sporting figures, a true national treasure worthy of mention in the same breath with Ruth or Ali or Jordan. “Hammerin’ Hank” set multiple hitting records during a 23-year career spent mostly with the Braves, including RBIs, extra-base hits and total bases. 2. Gotta agree, to a point. If I wanted Darnold, Goff, Wentz or Jimmy G., I would have kept Taylor Heinicke, Kyle Allen or see what PJ Walker has to offer. I'd welcome DeShaun Watson if the deal made sense. Think of it this way- as bad as the Panthers were this past season, how many of those winnable games would have ended the way we wanted? I see 3-4 more wins with him on the roster.
  3. My enthusiasm for yard work and car care moving from Saturday to Sunday will be a 10! I'll save my Saturdays for Navy and USC football.
  4. Oh, look a list of teams in need of a QB! Who would have guessed? Except for the Falcons, who are cap-strapped to Matty-boy they can't afford a QB; and the Raiders, who really don't need a QB as much as they need a WR and a couple O-linemen.
  5. Reimer is now 11-4 on the road going back to last season. Without Staal, the Canes can't buy a face-off win. Too many pucks right in front of the net- Preds were shooting less than 10' in front of the net without a body on them. Good to see Foegele going to the net and trying to force the issue. It's what he needs to do to get going. Fast is playing very good D on the puck and doing everything but score. Good stick. There isn't another team in this division with depth to match the Canes.
  6. Thanks. Seeing live performances has been in my blood for 50+ years. The last 10 months in this COVID world has been the worst- I can't remember the last time I went this long without seeing a show.
  7. I was at The Last Waltz- what an amazing experience. I was only 20 at the time and only later really appreciated how much music history and legacy I was witnessing. You want to see an interesting movie- it's on Prime- "Echo in the Canyon" with interviews, footage and the history of the music coming from the Laurel Canyon area of Los Angeles in the mid 60's. (Byrds, Jackson Browne, Stephen Stills, Buffalo Springfield, David Crosby, Graham Nash... they're all in it). Neil Young had a "band" called The Ducks for a very short time, I think around 76 or 77 and they played a few gigs in some of the Santa Cruz bars. The Back Room, I think, was one of them. I was in a Navy school for a couple months at Mare Island and a guy in the class was from there, so we'd drive down on the weekends.
  8. Well, if that's the case, why not have a fun family game of Russian roulette around the Thanksgiving dinner table, Deerhunter style? After all, a bullet in the temple will be less painful and drawn out than dying of COVID, and if they're willing to take a chance on one, why not the other?
  9. Mid-February for the wife and I. Neither of us ever get sick, but this kicked our ass and I was as sick as I've been for years. She missed a few days and was in bed for a couple- not good at all. Then, after she was trying to get back on her feet, I went down hard for a few days myself. It took probably 4 days or so before either of us really felt like we could do anything.
  10. And the public health is the responsibility of the NIH and CDC. And the remainder of your post is political, and I won't engage in a political discussion with you about something that is a health concern, not a reelection concern.
  11. It's not set up to handle a pandemic of this magnitude in any way shape or form because it was politicized from day 1 and that's why the response was a failure. Here we are 6 months into it and still have not reached a consensus that this is a healthcare crisis, not a political debate. That's why it's been a failure, not because we're not set up that way. We didn't wait for each state to act when responding to 9/11. Airports across the country were shut down immediately and public transportation systems across the country went on high alert- none of that occurred on an individual state-by-state basis.
  12. Perhaps read this, for starters. https://ourworldindata.org/covid-exemplar-south-korea
  13. You mean, like the supposed "leader of the free world?" Why don't you ask him that question at his next mask-free, no social distancing required Klan rally?
  14. Because it's not drama. It's science. Something most Trumpers are not familiar with.
  15. It's not an all or nothing proposition, you fugging idiot. But, while he's at it, why not go ahead and approve hydroxychloroquine, too? That's shown as much efficacy as the blood plasma treatment. Not to worry, though, I'm sure Trump's medical expert (you know her- she believes in alien sperm, lizard people among other things) will have some great news for us when she speaks at the convention next week. Again, there's no indication this will save 3-400 people, but if it proves itself as a therapeutic recovery at some point, then I'm good with that. But while you want to get pissy with me because, according to your feeble mind, I'd "rather let folks die," let's not forget your president has, as of today, still not come up with a plan to combat the virus and 176,000 people are dead on Sunday, August 23, 2020.
  16. Except the clinical trials that have been ongoing for several months at such places as the Mayo Clinic, UCLA Medical Center, etc., have not shown any definitive results. But Trump needs any piece of sh!t he throws to stick to a wall somewhere.
  17. So, here's the play: You call out sick, ask the boss of you should get tested. He says, "Not up to me, HIIPA and all; call the nurse or wellness coordinator." They confirm and recommend test. Go to FastMed, get tested, download their app, go home and wait. FastMed is currently at 3-5 days. When test come back negative, you go back to work and apply for emergency sick leave reimbursement. This is because you had to sit home for 3-5 days, use your sick time to wait on a test which came back negative, your employer now has to give you those 3-5 days worth of sick time back and you collect regular pay and not lose sick days. Municipal government, folks.
  18. Will be interesting to see how Trump fawns over his passing a week after saying absolutely nothing about John Lewis. The man who thinks he is leading this country has all the common decency of a pile of dogshit in the middle of your sidewalk.
  19. D- for effort. Shitty analogy or attempt at sarcasm, whichever you were attempting. And, by the way, the virus you don't believe in has killed 50 times more people than 9/11.
  20. You can't do this to the flag: But it's perfectly acceptable to cut it up for this:
  21. The New York Post is a Rupert Murdoch-owned tabloid and enjoys about as much credibility for unbiased reporting as Fox News. You Tube is not a reliable source of facts, your alien DNA doctor should have been your first clue. What "personal attack?" I simply asked if you believe in the moon landing or not.
  22. Sources and facts, please. Sources and facts, please. You're so wrapped into long-ago debunked conspiracy theories, outright lies and misinformation that your conversation isn't worth engaging in. It's like explaining calculus to a 1-year old- a waste of time. So, tell me, did we put men on the moon or was it all done in Hollywood?
  23. Correction: lock downs don't work in this country because a virus was politicized, as was the idea of staying home and masks, because all three of those worked everywhere else in the world who has come out the other side of this. Countries in southeast Asia learned from SARS and actually had plans for a pandemic like this had immediate and overwhelming testing numbers, contract tracing and quarantine. They have survived on a much higher scale than this country and did it without a vaccine or "therapeutics." The president of this country politicized a virus which couldn't care less what your political affiliation is, killed 145,000+; he assured everyone it would disappear in April, told us it was just a couple of days of sniffles, etc. If you believe for a single minute that this country, with 4.25% of the world's population, has been "successful" while responsible for 25% of the world's death toll from COVID, I can't help you.
  24. A You Tube video from a right wing conspiracy theorist, a "supposed" Supreme Court indictment (whatever that may be given the fact the USSC doesn't do indictments) and your list goes on. Here's a thought, maybe use some credible sources and post something reality-based and not some bullshit from your idea of trusted news sources on You Tube. GTFO.
