Story on the Joe Brady situation from Charles Robinson..
Davidson Deac II replied to WOW!!'s topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree. I mean essentially that was what Brady had at New Orleans, although he wasn't offensive coordinator. Personally, I just never bought into the hype that he was some up-and-coming superstar. I mean maybe he will be a star eventually, but he should have had to prove it somewhere besides a college team loaded with NFL talent before becoming an OC for an NFL team. -

Brady should have spent a few more years at LSU before becoming a NFL offensive coach. He had one year with a great collection of talent. He needed to show what he could do with an offense that wasn't clearly superior to every team they played. -
Steve Smith would do it. Don't know if Mayfield would, but I might actually buy his jersey if he does.
-
He is probably not better than Brisset, but he might be better than Rosen. We need to stick Darnold out there in the fourth qtr with the first string offense so he can rack up yards and look good for a trade. lol
-
He should have been suspended longer. That being said, if Davis Mills continues to improve as he did at the end of last season, that could be an interesting game. Also, if Davis Mills becomes a solid qb, the Texans made out like a bandit on this deal. Got a qb, got rid of a problem child, and got a bunch of good draft picks.

TE Eric Ebron wants to play for the Panthers
Davidson Deac II replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
To each his own, but Ian was better than Eric last season, not that Eric set the bar all that high. Of course, if Eric does get healthy again, he might be worth a look, but suitors aren't exactly lining up. -
TE Eric Ebron wants to play for the Panthers

At his best, no doubt. Now, probably not. Not that Thomas is good, but Ebron was struggling last year, even before he went on IR. -
Not exactly. He turned almost parallel to the oline for just a brief second, and then turned again to move downfield. I guess Kurt is saying he should have been running at more of a 45 degree angle down the field and it would have held the safety for a brief but important moment. If Kurt is right, just go to show how small the difference is between a successful pass and one that is knocked away.

Bigger than Kelvin Benjamin?

The NFC south has four quarterbacks selected in the top 5 of the draft. Mayfield and Winston were selected number 1, Marcus Mariotta was selected number two, and Darnold was picked third. Yet the only one who really is expected to do well is a 45 year that was drafted in the sixth round. I can't help but laugh at the irony of that.

Sounds like we made the right call...

You really need to stop holding back and let us know how you really feel about Rhule. -
Is there tension behind the scenes? Yes, No, or Maybe. Did Rhule and Fitterer disagree on selecting Corral? Yes, No, or Maybe. Would we know the answers at this point? No, unless Rhule or Fitterer is a secret huddle member.

Probably not, but I believe Kingsbury won't be around much longer with the talent that the Cardinals have, especially if he loses to us again.

Player snap counts vs Commanders
Davidson Deac II replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Corral isn't getting cut. -
Probably for a while, but you would think they would have learned by watching Steve Spurrier, Nick Saban, and Greg Schiano. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't Jimmy Johnson the last College Coach to make the jump with no previous significant NFL experience?
-
Like I said, Rhule should have been fired last year. Actually, should have never been hired. College coaches with almost no NFL experience almost never works out.

Here is a wow play

Player snap counts vs Commanders

But the question is not whether they have flaws, but can we get/afford anyone that is better. -
He will be, unless Darnold gets traded or cut.
-
I wish Rhule had been fired last year. That being said, I think most of you are making too much of this. It was a certainty that Corral would be third after Baker and Darnold, once we got Baker and didn't get rid of Darnold. I think the plan is to bring Corral along slowly. Baker is going to start with Darnold being the back up. Corral will be the third qb, and be inactive on most days, but he will get more snaps in the next preseason game. PJ might make the practice squad, but more than likely will be gone. If Baker or Darnold get injured or if Darnold gets traded or cut, Corral will get more playing time/snaps. Are these the right moves? Probably not, but I am not sure I want to get upset about how many snaps our third string qb is getting.

I don't know if Pickett will be a star, but the "wow" factor is overrated. What makes a qb a star is being cool and making accurate throws or decisions under pressure. And that is something that won't really be known until he starts playing in actual games.
-
Nice drive by Pickett and the Steelers, assuming it stands.
-
He might be asked to retire.

Losing Russel Wilson is eventually going to cost Pete Carrol his job.
