  1. Gotcha. Still holds true for this class. Even DE/Edge seems really deep.
  2. This class is abnormally deep in a lot of positions. Guys that would be first rounders in most other years will be slipping to 2nd or even third rounds. And I'm not going to base what we do this year on what we've typically done, because we aren't doing really anything typically so far with Morgan running it.
  3. I'll admit to being happy with Rhule initially and then Fitt. I'll admit to being wrong about them. The thing, though, that Fitt did incredibly well was make draft day trades that first year. That was fun to watch. He just didn't have the right set of goggles to choose the best players. At the time analytics was all the rage so we jumped in. I jumped in. It was just a phase and I think we've all just realized that there's nothing like trusting the eyes of people who truly know the game.
  4. True, but that also frees up a lot of future cap. I'm just saying it would be hard to outright deny it if some comes knocking. Especially after what we experienced with the Burns situation.
  5. I don't think it has anything to do with Clowney or Young. Especially Clowney. Our pass rush sucked last year. We only had 4 players with more than one sack. Burns, YGM, Luvu, and Brown...and Brown only had 2. We need more pass rushers. I think we're still seriously interested in Clowney. If we don't get Clowney, expect Edge to be a priority in the draft. Even with Clowney, id expect us to pick up maybe Xavier Thomas from Clemson. Il tell you, though, Chaisson has a lot of potential that he never had a chance to live up to in jaxville. He was an edge/LB at LSU but in jaxville they stuck him in as a DE in a 4-3. It was just an unfortunate drafting placement for him. There's opportunity there with him for sure. He was worth the first round pick, just should have been another situation. I just think we don't feel we're set. Not sure how many they'll want to have on the roster, but I could see us easily getting a couple more.
  6. I don't know....that would be hard to pass up. Especially if it included this years draft.
  7. I'm still stuck in my Sedrick Van-Pran trench. Wouldn't hate the Barton option, but for the blocking scheme Canales likes, Van-Pran is the best fit. I need to do some more digging to see who would be the best plan B for that.
  8. One thing is crystal clear. Morgan is not Fitt. There was a lot of concern that Morgan was tainted by Fitt and was basically the same ...guilt by friendship and employment. Turns out that's just horse poo.
  9. Pay him. But for the love of all that breathes, if some team comes knocking saying they'll give you two firsts for him....
  10. Morgan and Canales know to watch for players who know how to do what they are supposed to do. How we have been doing things for years going back to even drafting Benjamin and Funchess....they weren't looking at skill and proficiency as much as huge WRs. And then we kind of quit looking at WRs altogether. Well, at least Gettleman wasn't. With Fitt, instead of size it was that damn RAS score and whatever supermetric they could use. Relying on analytics to tell you who should be drafted. We watched moneyball and fell for that poo. Morgan trusts his first hand knowledge and those unblinking eyes. He knows what real football players and what makes a guy who can play at a high level because he played with and against the best for so long. I think Canales just knows what players have the mentality to push themselves to play at a high level and he can get that to rise to the surface.
  11. It depends on my mood. It really changes all the time. Xavier Worthy, Addonai, Mcconkey, Xavier Leggette, Malachi Corley.....I really dig all these guys. Hard for me to pick a favorite. Keon Coleman creeps in there for realistic options as well. The guy is a beast.
  12. Better to have too many playmaking options. Plus, with the quality in this draft, it's probably going to be a while before we have this much talent. We'd have a chance at being set for the next 4 years at least.
  13. I like this a lot. I wish the receivers were taller, but that's just nitpicking. those two would be a nice pair to have. Trice would be nice. Guy definitely could be a solid starter. Thers a couple centers that would fit the scheme. I can't imagine us not picking one up unless thry manage to get another option in FA.
  14. At least a dozen guys I like more that we could draft. I wouldn't hate it,but he'd be the second WR we draft. Or third.
  15. Man they are really quiet about everything this year. Kind of frustrating for us wanting to hear what's going on, but I'm also glad they learned to zip it.
  16. he's a keuchly -like beast.....when healthy. you're taking a gamble. if it wasn't for his injury history he would have been a surefire 1st rounder. it's got nothing to do with being from NC State. at the combine he was the LB that everyone was getting excited about. google this: combine 2024 LB standout ... see what pops up.
  17. and while in a defense that didn't suit him. he's an edge rusher for a 3-4, not a DE in a 4-3. not quite the necessary build for that. put him in the right scheme and the dude might just eat. he looked pretty fierce in college clips i looked up. after sitting in jaxville for so long he might be starved looking for an opportunity to feed again. it could be good. worth a shot. at worst a cheap rotational guy. NOT a starter, but good for obvious passing downs he couldn't hurt. nice sucker punch kind of guy.
  18. agreed. that's if we don't draft darius robinson or trice or someone like that.
  19. Could be either. He's a start to getting our pass rush taken care of. Starter if we need. Depth if we get Clowney and a good edge draft pick. I won't be upset if we have to rely on him as a starter. If he's the best pass rusher we have then we'll be in trouble. I don't see that being the case, though.
  20. depth guy. we need starters, but we also need depth as well. checking that box.
