  1. i can appreciate all of that and that they aren't making panic decisions. they want to win this year, but they aren't willing to sacrifice long term plans to make that happen. cost of some players that could help us win this year could affect us being able to acquire some long term answers.
  2. ouch. true. i just don't see rodgers as being beloved enough to pull that off, but i guess it could happen. but think about this...rodgers is 2 years older than favre was when the jets went this route with him. more just an interesting bit of trivia than anything, but still...jets.
  3. oh i know. it's just very rare that this ever works out. i mean we saw it with brady and the bucs, but that was as much a unicorn as drafting a 6th round scrawny QB and him taking you to 9 superbowls and winning 6 of them.
  4. i forgot it was banned. i might try to lift it leading up to the draft.
  5. all probably true. won't argue it. but i haven't watched it or really much thought of it in a decade. that was all i had to offer. like with sports illustrated, i just didn't know that was still a thing. it's like seeing some actor on an old tv show you haven't watched in a long time and thinking, "i wonder if that guy is still alive...i haven't thought of him in a long time" for a long time there was no questioning their presence because there was so little in the way of alternatives. i haven't bought or even looked at print media in a long time so i haven't thought of it in a long time. forgot all about it. i haven't had cable or satellite for a long time and since i'm not flipping through channels or looking at the guide on cable or satellite i don't really think about it. there's probably a growing group of people who used to depend on both for sports news who are in the same boat and probably a much larger younger demographic group who may go through their whole life as sports fans without knowing much if anything about either one of those.
  6. crap organizations have no chance of not being one unless the draft works the way it's supposed to. the team with the worst records get opportunity to better itself by having for shot at who they think is the best talent coming into the league. bypassing that is, in my opinion, a douche move. i don't care who your daddy is. daddy can keep out of it.
  7. just imagine him riding that stationary bike through all of training camp. what a sight that would have been!
  8. jets being that is a hard sell as well. it's clear that's what they want to be and think they are, though. i think they are done trying to build a long term team. they want just one year where they don't suck. they have had only 1 winning season since their last playoff appearance in 2010. of all the teams to be jealous of, they aren't one of them.
  9. i honestly can't remember the last time i watched espn. aside from maybe a time or two in the waiting room of a mechanic or doctor, i haven't watched it in maybe a decade.
  10. agreed. overpaying just means you're more desperate in the moment...not better. the more desperate you are, the more illogical and irrational you become.
  11. true. all you have to be able to do is be marketable and generate any kind of hype, warranted or unwarranted, and you make bank.
  12. i thought it was a douche move back then. everyone did. eli looked like a entitled prick for it. and just because it's happened before doesn't make it any less maddening.
  13. he's being a soccer mom. he can be however he wants to be, but he can also be a huge pain in the ass for someone trying to run a team. i can't imagine someone wanting to draft either one of his sons and have to deal with the poo sanders could bring. it may be the same kind of poo that other cautious and concerned parents would bring, but they typically don't have a platform to air out their grievances to the level he does, and would just amp up the irritation.
  14. i'm just glad the put the rookie caps in place because that poo was getting way out of hand.
  15. that's the issue...do we know he's good at OC? and then, can he stay a healthy enough option?
  16. agreed with all of that. with williams, you are getting someone who has the reputation of being one of the toughest receivers out there. what you are getting is a guy who gets hurt a lot and who just isn't all that productive. what the jets paid for is the reputation. they aren't really paying attention. they are just throwing everything in the fire hoping that they'll get cooking up something good for the year. what's most likely going to happen is they just get burned.
  17. i can't imagine many except for the most desperate of attention seeking teams are going to want anything to do with that family. and it's clear whatever sucker drafts either one of them won't be drafting a player, they'll be drafting their dad who wants his fingers in the mix. no thanks.
  18. Sorry, but our record drafting 2nd round WRs means nothing. The further back you go, the more ridiculous the concept is. New GM, new HC. New crop of WRs. Scouting department will have cycled through quite a lot of people over the years. History is no indication of future events here.
  19. From where the jets hope they are. I expect them to do what the jets do and fall on their face in spectacular fashion. But they are throwing everything in it because they know they won't ever have as good as a window as this year. They have no future.
  20. Mcconkey is super quick, incredible routes, and catches frickin everything. And you can line him up everywhere. He's the reliable guy you want for your QB. But I like Pearsall for the same reasons and just about as much. Leggette is could be a big fast stuff that fights for everything. Comparisons with Metcalf are on point. With that said, it could just be the idea of Leggette rather than the actuality of him. He only has one good year of production. He could be great or he could be Mingo.... someone that you keep looking at and wondering if he will ever be as good as you think he could be
  21. We didn't want to join that dance. Wouldn't be worth it.
  22. If the money was going to be there, his interest was going to be there. We didn't want to overpay for a question mark.
