Kind of a cool (to me) NFL draft story

Shon Coleman looks like a future high NFL Draft pick.

At 6-6, 310 pounds, he’s likely going to replace Greg Robinson at left tackle for Auburn in 2014. Robinson is expected to be taken in the top 10 Thursday night at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

And Coleman will be there to see it happen.

Coleman was a 5-star recruit out of Olive Branch High School in Memphis. But he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia shortly after signing with Auburn in 2010. He played for the first time last season and on Thursday night, he’ll announce an NFL team’s draft selection.

It would be awesome if the NFL could hold his time at the podium until his teammate Greg Robinson's name is called.

Because of his cancer treatments, Coleman missed the 2010, 2011, and 2012 seasons at Auburn and last year was his first year playing (he was Greg Robinson's back-up).  He just earned his degree and will be starting grad school this fall.  If he has a good enough year, I wouldn't be surprised to see him declare for the draft after 2014.  The cancer and treatments stole the first 3 years of his playing years (but not his eligibility, he has 3 more years left there) away from him.  So, as old as he is, if he has a great year this year, I wouldn't blame him for jumping if the NFL is his dream.

As of now, NFL Draft Scout has him rated as the 12th best OT of his class.  A solid year this year could move him up from there.

Just consider this post as a feel-good story about a future prospect.   :P

Bro you don't need to qualify your thread title with "(to me)". I know the feeling, every time I make a thread I brace for impact as a dozen or more strangers on the internet post .Gifs and hurl insults because you wasted 30 seconds of their life. It makes you question yourself.

But that is a great story and I'm glad you brought it to my attention.
