John Stevens Interviewing For Head Coaching Job

John Stevens just won a Stanley Cup as an assistant coach with the L.A. Kings and is now interviewing with the Carolina Hurricanes for the vacant head coaching job. Stevens actually played 44 games as a Hartford Whaler recording 8 assists. Stevens also won a Calder Cup championship with the Whalers AHL team (he won a total of three Calder Cups as a player).

As a head coach in the AHL, Stevens went 230-181-25 with four playoff appearances in six seasons and won a Calder Cup Championship.

As a head coach in the NHL, Stevens went 122-111-34 with two playoff appearances in four seasons including an Eastern Conference Finals appearance which culminated in Stevens winning the coach of the year award from Hockey News.

Stevens has also won two Stanley Cups as an assistant with the Kings.

John Stevens would be my first choice to be the next head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes.

 

However, according to Darren Dreger, Ulf Samuelsson is still the leader in the club house who is interviewing for the job this week as well.

      I'm talking about on any team. I keep hearing that but have yet to see an example. The last high flying offense I've seen was the Rams "Greatest Show on Turf". Since then it's been just average for passing offenses across the league.
