Most of y'all know some of the more intricate NFL rules than I do, so I ask how come when we wanted to IR Gaffney he was able to get snatched, but when the Patriots IR'd him it's all good?

I think it's because we couldn't stash him so early on in the process without putting him through waivers first. I guess the rules change once you get down to 75.

You can't cut an injured player. You wait for him to heal, then cut him.

And what is happening when the player has a carrier ending injury, like Patrick Jeffers?

Only the 53 highest contracts counts against the cap. So no, nothing is wasted.

 

EVERYONE counts in regular season, IR'd, practice squad, etc.
