Ferrari QB used like a '85 Camry

comHe cut Steve Smith what don't you understand?

How can you put weapons around him if you are taking away his #1?

I don't want to hear that it takes time crap. We have a team that can win the Superbowl now why wait? You can create room to sign key players if you really want to win.

It pisses me off when I see lesser talented QB's like Stafford have multiple weapons on offense while we are stuck with one #1 and a bunch of scrubs.

The problem here is you think that last year's team was Super Bowl caliber. It wasn't, and the 49ers clearly showed why in the playoffs. They easily had more overall talent and depth than the Panthers, and with a ton of contracts, we simply don't have the money to start loading up on acquisitions to important positions. That's where the "it takes time" comes from. You can't gut the entire roster in one fail swoop if the contracts are so bad that you're still paying dead money.

I have no doubt if Gettleman had the freedom to cut as many guys as he wanted to and re-shape the roster into his kind of football team, he would do it, and I think that happens this upcoming off-season.

Sure, Stafford has great weapons on offense, but what good does that do when his defense is getting beaten. The amount of help Cam gets via this defense can't be understated and I would definitely put that under the "Building Around Cam" umbrella.

We had home field advantage in the playoffs over every team in the NFC besides Seattle. We beat the 49ers in the regular season.

You damn right I thought we were Superbowl contenders.

What kind of statement was that?

Way to believe in your team Panther fan...SMH

Big picture, man...biiiiig picture. That Ferrari we have at QB is dinged up right now but barring a totaling of it like Washington did with their Ferrari, our Ferrari is going to be ours for awhile.

It was given an '85 Camry's spare parts to run on, but now it's about getting all the aftermarket stuff to help improve its performance.

So you didn't think the Panthers were a Superbowl contender last year?

Did you not watch us in the regular season? We were the hottest team in the NFL for quite some time.

We were the hottest team in the regular season but we still had a ton of flaws and got very lucky at times (the bad snap @ ATL last year is one example.) Playoffs are a different beast.

Outside of Smitty and Ted Ginn in the return game, all of the departures from last year's team have ranged from non-factors to detriments on their new teams.

But you continue to miss my point. It's not about last year. It's not even about this year. It's about keeping Cam healthy so he can perform at an elite level for us for many years. Dave isn't stupid. He's going to get Cam the help he needs. Patience.

Mitchell looked alright tonight...

Well, the o-line made it look like 4 Joe Greene's were rushing tonight, too. Not sure if both teams turned a corner in opposite directions or if this is an anomaly given the first two weeks but I am going to assume the latter.

So we're just going to assume everyone we cut wasn't worth keeping, and everyone we signed will turn the corner?

    • Its quite literally insanity and its quite literally textbook panthering.  Literally 2 weeks before the season they pull this poo.  It absolutely helps no one but Moton.   fug morgan fug tepper and fug tillis.  This is a horrendous move no matter how you sell it.  But but but culture, but but but it sets a precedent, but but but he deserves it, but but but it frees up cap space.   It was a stupid fuging move.
    • fuging Christ dude this isnt hard.  Like at all.  I get you simping for this poo team is your thing but sometimes you have to look at reality.   Even removing his bum knee from the equation, none of this made sense.  He is 31.  He has been paid handsomely for his service here.  He was currently under contract for this season.  Why in the holy fug did anything have to be done 2 weeks before the season started.   The people for this move, in this thread are saying A) He deserved it (this is the nfl it doesnt work like that  B) It frees up cap space (then why in the fug didnt we do this in Feb or C) You logic (We are getting a deal at 53 million guaranteed for the next 3 years.   You realize with this deal we cannot cut or trade his ass for 3 years.  You understand this right?   So in my opinion we should have let this ride into the offseason and go from there, what he is going to threaten to walk, big fuging deal he would be 32 on a chronically bad knee, what other moronic franchise is going to give him 40 million up front?  It wasnt going to happen.   And you are acting like its impossible to replace a 32 year old RT with a bum knee.  Just go and draft someone, move Icky to RT.  There are tons of options instead of extending this dude 2 weeks before the fuging season.  The truth is Morgan and the shitheads in the FO fell for this dudes crying act and got all sentimental and shelled out another ext.  We are a poverty ass franchise that doesnt act professionally
    • Amazing what the prospect of being traded to Carolina will do for contract negotiations.
