Eagles Not Looking Too Hot!

I certainly don't want to jink anything and I know that there is a long way to go but the Eagles didn't look good at all against New England tonight. It is the third quarter of the replay on NFL Network and they just weren't clicking at all. A few notes:

-LT Jason Peters, who is supposed to be the best tackle in the league, was doing his best Todd Stuessie impression by letting just about everyone right around him and into Donovan's lap.

-Speaking of McNabb his numbers won't show it but he was very inaccurate and they talked about how he had changed his throwing motion.

-The offensive line in general got a little push in the running game but completely broke down on passing plays.

-The secondary played a little soft but the rush defense was tight. They didn't get much pressure on Brady.

-LeSean McCoy was pretty decent, he had a couple nice runs.

-Special teams was horrible allowing a punt return TD and they also muffed a punt that they luckily recovered.

The announcers kept making excuses but to me it was just a poor performance. Before anyone says anything I know preseason doesn't mean anything and that they are just playing a vanilla offense and defense and the starters don't really care, blah, blah, blah. I'm sure Andy Reid will have them ready come week 1 but I thought it was worth mentioning. I really hope the Panthers give a better effort on Monday.

HOLY MOTHER! THOSE ANNOUNCERS WERE SO SO SO HORRENDOUS I WANTED TO PUKE!!!!! I WOULD RATHER LISTEN TO THEEEEEEESMANN!!!! They acted like they were sitting in their living room BSing with each other instead of...you know...DOING THE GAME. I would say they sounded like straight Eagles fans but they were nauseatingly homerish and filled with excuses instead of booing and screaming obscenities at the team...lol

FDF I agree on McN. It's so weird to me that I will watch him and a lot of times his stats will look good but he actually doesn't throw that well. Feely, as usual, ate the Pats D up. The Pats D looked horrible. They got eaten up down the middle all night and forced no turnovers.

wrong forum dude, but I agree. Jim Johnson gone (RIP), Dawkins gone, LB out for the year, Runyan retired. Also, signing Vick bringing more distractions such as protests.

people in philly don't care if vick killed some dogs. All they want is a superbowl victory. Its not the same in carolina. But on the other side I think the panthers will beat the eagles. Joe mays has alot more learning to do so if we can keep their D-Line in check we will have a good game running the ball. Also i noticed how asante plays 10 yards away on coverage. We could do alot of screens, drags , curl routes and screen passes.

As a guy that also follows the Bills I just gotta say on the Jason Peters front...TOLD YA SO!!!

The guy is NOT anywhere near what HE and andy Reid thinks he is. Donovan/ Vick will be running for their lives this year. He is nothing but a mental midget that was an undrafted TE out of college. Buffalo worked with him, he made one probowl then went to crap. He is an AVERAGE at best LT and last night showed it.

Oh and funny, after getting his ass kicked he is out of the game hurt. Wow, haven't seen that before.

pre-season

As I stated in the first post I realize this is preason but this isn't the Lions or Rams, the eagles are supposed to be a potential playoff team and a legitimate super bowl pick. I just simply thought they would be further along than what they showed last night. The Steelers, titans, Cardinals, Ravens, these teams showed up and played well in their games. The preseason may not MEAN anything but it does give us some sort of an idea.

Think of last year during that Redskins game, I know everyone said "Hey, its PRESEASON, dewill and jstew won't both rush for 100 in a game...the redskins weren't trying because its PRESEASON!!!" Ask the buccanears about that.

    • At the moment? Absolutely not. Maybe if they drop the next three in a row and go into the deadline at 3-6 I can see an argument to be made to move Rico as he's on a 1yr deal. I'd rather keep Chuba's contract though and roll with ETN + JB next season. The team will have plenty of time to see how JB is looking going into the offseason a year-plus after his surgery to know whether or not they need to plan for another direction.
    • I forgot to mention my thoughts on the rushing grade! 😮 He ran his ass off both weeks. I can't remember the stat offhand but didn't he have something crazy like 120+ yards after contact vs. Dallas? Against Miami he had lanes as wide as the entirety of I-95 to run through which is why his rushing grade wasn't as high as this week's. He's ran like a man possessed and going to earn himself some money in the offseason.
    • I'm not sure how much I'm changing mid year, especially when we are seeing some success.    Most Pass Rushers are physically gifted. Scheme and personnel help, but you gotta have the Jimmys and Joes, especially at that position.    We will likely lose games when the other team can throw for 400 yards, and has multiple high level receivers, but I think at this point in the development of our franchise, we have to be ok with that. You can't address every single issue at once. Really looks like we have plugged some holes on offense, and definitely in run defense. In the next draft, if we hit on a CB, an ILB and a Pass rusher, we will be pretty dangerous.
