"Defense should be good enough"?

Yeah, but Ron Ron hasn't demonstrated himself good at either.

The Panthers, have usually started the season slow.

They're bad on nationally telecast games, mostly.

He places certain players in his dog house, while allowing worse players he likes to continue playing.

Shows no faith in his QB or offense, when they've been the best unit of the team this year, and really the majority of his tenure.

Rivera, usually doesn't defend his players under National criticism  (Cam, Hardy)

That's the motivational part. And I'm sure I missed a few.

Now we know, on the X's and O'x, game management part; Rivera really lacks. We have a litany of things we can list regarding that component of his NFL coaching (clock management, usage of TO's; challenges; when to be aggressive; playing for FG's instead of TD's, etc.).

random comment, an interesting thing to note is John Fox had these exact problems...
