The First 4 Games...

I'm not freaking out but the fact that we got ran over last night made me take a glance at the first four games of the season. First we play Philly who doesn't like to run the ball up the middle but has the backs to do so. Then we play Atlanta and we all know what Michael Turner is capable of. Next we play Dallas who has a three headed monster in Barber, Jones, and Choice. Then comes our bye week, which leads us to a run heavy Washington team that has clinton portis.

I guess my point is that we have to get someone in here NOW. They can't afford to wait until cuts to get someone. They need time to gell and learn the defense, we have to make a trade or do something. This first four games will be really bad if we go into the season with the DT's that we have or some guy we picked up after cuts. I think the tackling will get better and the offense will be much sharper come regular season. But having that hole at DT will have a domino effect on the team. IF opponents can run the ball then the linebackers can't be effective and they can dictate the pace of the game. If we get behind in games because of this then Jake will have to throw the ball more, and no one wants that.

    • Having trouble finding all these articles saying the Raiders withheld information. Here’s the latest from Crosby’s surgeon: ElAttrache told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday morning that Crosby was "doing very well in the early part of his rehab and recovery from surgery to treat a significant meniscus tear and the related stress injury to the bone and cartilage in his knee. He is certainly on track in his planned program." "We truly respect the work of the Ravens' staff with Maxx regarding the contract physical exam. We also understand the challenge the staff faces when tasked to provide a future risk assessment based on an evaluation early in the recovery process," ElAttrache said. "This is especially challenging when dealing with an elite player like Maxx considering the level of commitment necessary for a team to obtain him. The timing of this assessment is unfortunate because the apparent risk will lessen as his recovery progresses and his return to performance over the next few months becomes clear."     So the Ravens excuse is the future risk assessment based on the physical, not that the Raiders withheld information. They found an excuse to save face publicly. They had the right to cancel the trade for no reason at all, but they’re trying to save face with the most acceptable reasoning they can find. I’ve heard and seen the Ravens getting dragged everywhere for this. You know what would be an easy way to put a stop to that if you’re the Ravens and the Raiders were actually the shady ones withholding information? Just come out and say that you were not given all the medical information. But they aren’t saying that. I guess they’re just taking the bullet for the Raiders just because?    Speculation indeed.
    • Two first round picks for a guy with very questionable knees who will be 29 this summer. Yes it is safe to say the Ravens got cold feet.
    • The salary cap is the reason we got Phillips and Lloyd
