My team:

QB Cam Newton

WR Calvin Johnson

WR Brandon Marshall

WR Jeremy Maclin

RB Lamar Miller

RB Ronnie Hillman

TE Zach Ertz

K Graham Gano

DEF Carolina

BN Kelvin Benjamin

BN Odell Beckham Jr.

BN Dwayne Allen

BN Ryan Matthews

BN Josh Gordon

BN Adrian Peterson

10 team Yahoo Pro League, standard scoring. My record is 5-4 and I'm in 6th place well within range of the top 4 which are the playoff spots. My team has been bad and lucky to have the record I have right now because Megatron has been out, Matthews has been out, Marshall had a few bad games and a bye, prior to that Ball was horrible for me before I dropped him, Carolina D has been bad, Benjamin had been up and down, Ertz terrible, etc. But now I'm getting guys back like Megatron, Marshall, Matthews will be back soon, Peterson is very likely to be back soon, Josh Gordon will be back in a few games. Well I just traded:

Maclin and Ertz for Gronkowski and Smitty. Good trade? I feel I won't need Maclin with Gordon coming back and Megatron and Marshall coming back, even though he's been a stud and Gronk is a huge upgrade at TE. What do you think?

That's a hell of a trade. You strengthen your TE spot with a beast in Gronk and you have Gordon coming back and got Smith in the trade so Maclin isn't that bad of a loss. I think it was a damn good trade on your part.

I hope so. Helped him out a lot too, since Smitty was literally his best WR. Also had Gates so that's why I proposed. Only thing is I'm not sure I can trust Marshall in that train wreck in Chicago, Smitty has been bad and Gordon's still 2 weeks away. Atleast Megatron is finally back though. Gronk's on bye this week which hurts... My team looks like it should be really really good on paper but I have like the 4th least points in the league.

    • Correct this logic I might if it meant taking his guaranteed money now and spread it over 3 years (2026-2028) and maybe add $6m.  I am not sure you can do that, or that he would do it, but it would be a way for him to extend his career and bank accounts and we would be getting him for $6m for 2 years (if healthy), basically, since his entire salary is guaranteed now.  If not, we lose an additional $6m spread over 2 years.  So let's say his guaranteed $$ for 2026 is $18m.  Give him a $24m contract ($8m per) through 2028.  Worst case:  We get $10m in cap relief now and create $3m dead cap for 2 years (2027-8).   Best case?  We get cap relief now and a good/decent guard/tackle for 2 years (2027-2028) and the total salary per year when he is active would be $12m if you don't count any money for the season he cannot play.  That is a good value, and we'd basically be getting a 50% discount rate.  Since we have so much guaranteed now, extending him is not as crazy as it seems.   Something has to be wrong with this logic...
    • I don't disagree about Nikishin's potential availability, but Hamilton as a replacement? Not an upgrade in my book.
