Panthers injury report: Derek Anderson (sick) and OG Fernando Velasco did not practice. Velasco has a family issue to take care of.

 

Ron Rivera reiterated it looks like DeAngelo Williams "is ready to roll."

 

Rivera said if #Panthers win the toss they'll want the ball to continue their aggressive nature on offense.

 

Derek Anderson has had the flu and Ron Rivera hasn't wanted him around the team until he's better. He was able to keep soup down today.

Rivera on Cam's adversity: The lowest moment for him was when I told him we weren't gonna play him against Tampa in Week one. #Panthers

 

Rivera: I think the car accident changed Cam and made him take things a little less seriously. It's bee a trickle down effect for the guys

 

#Panthers Rivera on Cam: he's having fun playing football again, seems to be result of Cam's car accident.

 

Rivera said when Cam Newton is having fun he's "pretty doggone good.''

 

#Panthers RR: cam ankle/rib seem to be fine, can't speak for his back.

Rivera: I'm not buying into they have struggled the past couple weeks..we are gonna have to out play them in all phases.

 

He's fine. Just had his toe stepped on. RT @justinpence: @SteveReedAP how is Josh Norman steve? He came up gimpy late in the Falcons game

 

#Panthers RR: plenty of low points this season, Cam was pressing during those low points.

 

#Panthers RR: on offense friendly rules, been a supporter of the calls on DB's, as long as they remain consistent

Doesn’t matter. Will start & get bulk of carries.

#Panthers RR: Charles Johnson has played as well as anybody, has had tremendous 2nd half

 

Ron Rivera praised DE Charles Johnson (@randywattson) for a "tremendous four-game stretch" of games.

 

#Panthers RR: linebackers have been a solid group all season long. McDermott has been aggressive in his calls.

 

Rivera says one constant all season offensively has been the steady play of the TE. Sees Cam's confidence growing in Dickson as pass-catcher

#Panthers RR: applauds Roman Harper for helping shepherd young DB's grow and develop.

 

Rivera can't say enough about how impactful Roman Harper's leadership has been for young secondary. That group looks up to him.

 

#Panthers Rivera tells funny story about young DB needing to get permission from Roman Harper at the end of practice to use the bathroom.

 

#Panthers RR: Kalil molds young OL in same way as Harper with DB's. Early on, was tough on Kalil after teammates retired.

 

#Panthers RR: it's been neat to watch how he's helped direct that group of players.
