Hornets and Nets restarts trade talks

Johnson has dropped off considerably from his prime...and at 33...will only get worse. This makes no sense whatsoever.

Even if a change of scenery were to revitalize Johnson...his tank is about empty.

For people who have watched him more frequently over the course of this season, does it look like he has anything left in the tank? Or is a he a year or two from being done completely?

IMO Henderson has played well, but like a prior poster said, he has been asked to be a player that he is not over the last few years. Due to that, we do not appreciate the player he is. He has a solid mid range game and he has improved his three ball considerably. He just never seemed to be that guy that gets hot. It is weird.

You look at his percentages, and they are not bad, but he never seems to make multiple baskets in a row and then miss a few. Seems like he makes one, then misses, then makes, then misses. Like he consistently shoots inconsistently? lol.

Also, Marvin stretches the floor just does not take shots aggressively. Imagine that from a Hornets player not named Walker or Neal.

And no matter how you slice it...I am just not ready to give up on Lance. Give the dude a season for crying out loud. I mean the man probably still has a box or two he hasn't unpacked yet.

Also Jakob...your sig is hilarious and gets funnier every time I watch it!

He looks pretty good some games, but Brooklyn has been running him into the ground. He is averaging 35.5 minutes per so far this season. I think if we played him around 28 or so minutes he would look much better, after he got healthy of course.

At minimum, I view it like we're getting rid of three overpaid players for one overpaid player who may or may not be better than all three combined, and if not, he'll be close... AND that one overpaid contract will be off the books, opening up over 23 million after next season.

You dont think we can maintain our current level of play for the next two years and then add a huge piece/potential superstar when JJ 's contract comes off the books? I do.

What an absolute foolish thing to say.

I never even acted like Henderson was a good starter. But he's been a decent third scorer and a nice defender for several years now. It's not his fault that we never had anyone better to take shots. He is a role player whose been forced to start and done an okay job at it. At least he's not a cocky arrogant fug.

Myth. Henderson is an average defender.

I don't hate Henderson, he's just a terrible fit alongside MKG and hurts more than he helps. He's a big, athletic guard who will hustle on defense and can attack the rim. But he can't shoot. At all.

Put him on a team like OKC or GS that is loaded with shooters and he'd fit okay. Stick him on the floor with MKG-Zeller-Biz and he's completely useless. Also, athletes are a dime a dozen in the NBA. Shooters are more valuable, thus why mediocre, lazy players who can chuck away and score like JR Smith and Monte Ellis have better value than Henderson.

He's just not good. He has value as a backup SG/SF who gets 15 min a game, but that's it. He's not a starter or 6th man. And the fact that Rich Cho has been trying to trade him for over 2 years without seemingly anyone interested should make it obvious.

Cho should offer Al-Hendo-Roberts & a 1st Rd pick for Joe-Plumlee & tell the Nets to take it or leave it- non-negotiable. If they wanna get rid of Joe so bad they'll take it. Al & Hendo can be easily flipped again if they don't want them. They're stuck with Joe right now, nobody wants him. And who cares about a 15-17 overall pick, we've got enough young players already.

Walker

Johnson

Kidd-Gilchrist

Williams

Biyombo

Stephenson

Neal

Hairston

Zeller

Plumlee

Instant offense. Johnson is old & overpaid but he can score & is only a 1.5 year rental. I'm tired of watching Kemba & Al put up 40 shots a game because nobody else will shoot the damn ball.

Walker & Johnson can score 35-40 a game together & compliment each other better than anyone they've ever thrown out there beside Kemba. Biyombo has developed into a great defender & rebounder, & alongside MKG they'll clean up the boards & lockdown defensively. Zeller is better than Marvin but I'd throw Marvin out there with MKG & Biz. They can cover his lack of size & he can help stretch the floor & give spacing to Kemba.

Make Lance a permanent 6th man & surround him with scorers. He's a natural PG. Period. Neal & Hairston will get plenty of open looks playing with Lance & Zeller/Plumlee make a solid 2nd string post presence.

Or just trade Lance, Hendo, Marvin, Al, & whoever for peanuts. I don't care at this point. This roster is a shitstain. Kemba, MKG, Biz, & Vonleh are the only guys I wouldn't trade.

Don't feed us the load of poo that Joe Johnson will give us better shooting when he's been shooting around .350 for half the season.

Joe Johnson in a wheelchair would be an improvement over Gerald Henderson. He's averaging 16 points on 43% from the field & 36% from 3. He can flat out score and shoot 3s, which is the biggest need on this roster. Meanwhile, Henderson is averaging 10 points on 44% but shooting a pathetic 28% from 3. Kemba is on an island by himself & he is still playing like an All-Star. Give him a proven outside scorer and he'll flourish.

And beyond just scoring, Joe grabs more rebounds than Hendo & dishes out twice as many assists. Joe has a higher PER, double the offensive wins shared, & identical defensive wins shared as Hendo. In other words, Joe is infinitely better than Hendo offensively & at the same time just as good defensively.

GH is a mediocre basketball player.

Quit trying to cherry pick stats. Joe has struggled for a few weeks- every player goes through slumps. Henderson has put up decent numbers for a few weeks- while playing against the worst teams in the entire league- NYK, MIN, PHI, ORL, etc.

2014-15 Season

JJ- 16 Pts, 43% Fg, 36% 3pt, 4 Reb, 4 Ast

GH- 10 Pts, 44% Fg, 28% 3pt, 3 Reb, 2 Ast

JJ- 14.3 PER, 1.0 OWS, 1.1 DWS

GH- 12.2 PER, 0.5 OWS, 1.1 DWS

I just think people are living in the past with Johnson. I know you have to take risks sometimes to get better...but taking that risk on a former Atlanta Hawk dinosaur doesn't smell right to me, with all due respect of course...

Averaging 35.5 minutes per game could be wearing him out...but another way to look at it is this: If Joe is getting 35 minutes per game and he is the great scorer some seem to think...he should be averaging more than 16 per game.

Just seems like Stephen Jackson again...and I have already seen that show.
